In just the past year, Thai actress and singer “Janeyeh” Methika Jiranorraphat has become one of the biggest names in the country’s fast-growing entertainment industry. While her rise to the top might seem like an overnight phenomenon, her hard-fought success has been over ten years in the making.
Born and raised in Bangkok to a Thai mother of Teochew-Chinese descent and a Taiwanese father, Janeyeh spent time as a child in Taiwan, making her effectively bilingual in Thai and Mandarin. Like many of her peers, she dreamt of becoming a K-pop idol in her teens, auditioning for major companies like JYP and YG Entertainment. While her attempts were unsuccessful, she soon found herself in the public eye at 15 as the second runner-up in Miss Teen Thailand 2014.

Now celebrated as an emotive and versatile actress, it might be surprising to learn that Janeyeh fell into acting almost by accident. After accompanying a friend to an audition in 2015, she was unexpectedly cast in the Boys’ Love (BL) series Love Sick, and later signed with leading Thai entertainment company GMMTV. Her acting career quickly gained momentum, often starring in youth-oriented series like U-Prince and My Dear Loser: Edge of 17. Janeyeh’s bilingualism also gave her a competitive edge, and she soon began landing roles in Chinese productions like My Subject God, fostering a fanbase across Asia.

By 2019, Janeyeh’s repertoire expanded beyond teen dramas into challenging roles in science-fiction and psychological projects, showcasing layered and haunting performances. That same year, she also fulfilled her dream of becoming an idol by debuting in GMMTV’s girl group SIZZY alongside fellow actresses “Jan” Ployshompoo Supasap, “Ciize” Rutricha Phapakithi and “Aye” Sarunchana Apisamaimongkol. The quartet became known for their energetic pop sound and empowering singles like “Unstoppable” and “Prove It”.
After her contract with GMMTV ended in 2024, Janeyeh left the agency and SIZZY to pursue a career as an independent actress, earning herself the freedom to explore a wider range of projects. It did not take long for her to strike gold. In May 2025, she starred in Netflix’s action-comedy series Mad Unicorn as Xiao Yu, a high-powered Thai-Chinese operations strategist that gets roped into an ambitious start-up. Her language abilities served her well in the bilingual role, delivering the character’s razor-sharp wit and softer emotional centre in both languages effortlessly. The project became her biggest breakthrough yet, reaching No.1 in Thailand upon its premiere and No.4 globally among Netflix’s non-English offerings.

Mad Unicorn would not be her only roaring success in 2025. In October, Janeyeh led Love Design, marking her first-ever sapphic role. Starring opposite beloved actress "Kao" Supassrathip Akkrathaweepatch, she played the haughty Rin, a gifted architect who becomes integral to the survival of a family business and quickly falls for its CEO. The role propelled her popularity among Girls’ Love (GL) fans, further fuelled by frequent brand collaborations with Kao. Together, the duo shot campaigns for MCM, Garnier and Thai make-up brand Cute Press. Solo, the actress became the face of Dyson’s Airwrap 2x campaign in Thailand, and often attends events for luxury brands like Gucci, Cartier and Valentino.
Earlier this year, Janeyeh surprised fans with her appearance in the trailer for Netflix’s Girl from Nowhere: Reset, the highly anticipated reboot of the hit series Girl from Nowhere. Starring alongside Becky Armstrong, Janeyeh has since been unveiled as a supporting character named Blossom, a popular streamer sure to butt heads with the mysterious lead character Nanno as she wreaks havoc across campuses. In this role, the actress is expected to unveil a darker, more gritty edge to her performance. With all eyes on Janeyeh in 2026, fans are eagerly awaiting to see what else she will bring to the table in the coming months.
