German luxury house MCM presented its fall/winter 2024 collection at Milan Fashion Week in the historic Palazzo Serbelloni. Entitled “Munich to Mars”, the contemporary pieces were revealed in a futuristic setting with rocky portals serving as a gateway between Earth and Mars, inviting guests on a cosmic expedition. Suitcases, created in collaboration with Harper Collective, appeared to levitate on water on Earth while handbags and accessories were displayed amongst red sand on Mars, backdropped by montages of the Red Planet.
The new collection, designed by Creative Director Katie Chung, reflects the house’s dedication to innovation and heritage, expressed in reimagined iconic designs and new boundary-pushing silhouettes.
A stand-out was the exclusive Black Label range which features a notably refined look with an elegant, embossed logo and clean lines. Another noteworthy piece is the Diamante 3D and Diamante Soft, revealing panels of leather and suede or the emblematic monogram converging at a point.
In an exploration of new materials, ready-to-wear introduced Laurel Denim Jacquard adorning classic denim jackets and jeans. Monogram Re-Nylon, metallic leather, and refined grain leather were also unveiled, in the form of striking trousers and shirts. MCM highlighted their new sustainable plant-based leather alternatives with the MIRUM® capsule, in a move towards eco-conscious luxury.
The space odyssey continued with new Silver Swarovski Ballerina pumps, a new eyewear partnership with Marcolin called Monogrammed, as well as the Inter Parfums Inc fragrance MCM Crush. The House’s distinctive style codes and signature motifs unified each piece to create an innovative collection inspired by Munich's rich cultural tapestry.
The creations are designed for modern individuals with on-the-go lifestyles, which is evident in the functional yet stylish pieces such as the monogrammed Apple headphone covers and watch straps as well as the versatile backpacks adorned in different textiles.
Forward-thinking sums up the overall collection, with a myriad of pieces to suit a plethora of styles. President and Brand & Commercial Officer Sabine Brunner emphasises this: "MCM was founded with a spirit of innovation and independence, redefining luxury since its inception. With a commitment to craftsmanship, versatility, and inclusivity, MCM empowers individuals to explore the world without boundaries, both physically, virtually, and beyond." From the daily commute to exciting adventures, the new range is created for those on the move.
