In the realm of K-pop, mixed gender acts remain few and far between. While many labels have attempted to launch co-ed groups over the years, only a handful manage to achieve the same success enjoyed by their peers in an already hyper-competitive industry. But the members of rookie group ALLDAY PROJECT—comprising Annie, Tarzzan, Bailey, Woochan and Youngseo—are determined to change the game.
Formed under The Black Label, home to K-pop heavyweights like Taeyang and BLACKPINK’s Rosé, ALLDAY PROJECT burst onto the scene with their singles “Wicked” and "Famous" in June to much fanfare. "All eyes follow me / But we ain't even famous," they sing on the latter, but the resounding response to their debut says otherwise. The song skyrocketed to Number One on South Korea's Melon Top 100 chart days after its release, making it the fastest fifth-generation group to top the chart. The group has already amassed a fervent online fanbase, hitting over a million Instagram followers in their first month.
This might be their first time greeting the world as ALLDAY PROJECT, but the members are no strangers to the spotlight. Dancers Bailey and Tarzzan have long made their mark in the dance world, the former having choreographed for top acts like Taemin and aespa prior to becoming a K-pop trainee. Meanwhile, Woochan and Youngseo—the youngest of the group—earned their stripes on television competitions Show Me The Money 6 and R U NEXT? respectively, garnering a legion of fans who had been eagerly awaiting their debut. With credentials this stacked, it’s no surprise that the fast-rising rookies are more than confident to smash through any challenges that might come their way.
Here, ELLE Singapore speaks to ALLDAY PROJECT about coming together as a team, their style inspirations and their next big goal.
