Prada Unveiled Its New Prada Re-Nylon for SEA BEYOND Collection
Prada released a new five-piece capsule collection of lightweight, collapsible and fully recyclable backpacks, pouches and outerwear. Made from regenerated plastic waste sourced from oceans, landfills, and textile fibres, they are designed to be broken down and remade repeatedly without losing quality. The documentary films were created alongside National Geographic CreativeWorks and fronted by Benedict Cumberbatch and Letitia Wright to draw attention to the fragility of the ocean’s ecosystem and emphasized the need to protect marine life. As of July 2023, 1% of the proceeds from the Prada Re-Nylon for SEA BEYOND Collection benefit SEA BEYOND, the project by Prada Group conducted in partnership with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO.

The design reinterprets ASICS’ signature stripes through a taping-inspired construction, developed to support and stabilise natural movement. The result is a shoe that quite literally wraps around the foot. Thick elastic bands form a bold line while holding the foot in place and creating support. Comfort and stability is ensured through various methods from cushioned tongue wings and a wrestling-inspired outsole to a FLYTEFOAM PROPEL inner sole and soft Ortholite sock liner—striking a clear balance between technical function and modern design.
