CAELAN is an artist in motion. Born to Japanese, Irish, and American roots and raised across continents, the singer grew up moving between Virginia, Hawaii, and Tokyo. That early sense of constant change has shaped both his worldview and his artistry, translating into a steady, assured rise as an artist unafraid of evolution.
CAELAN's entry into the entertainment industry began early, when he started modelling in middle school. The experience soon opened the door to an audition for a new idol group, and in 2018, he debuted as the youngest member of the Japanese-American group INTERSECTION alongside three other bandmates, including mikah. His path shifted again in 2021, when he joined Chinese idol survival show Chuang 2021. While he narrowly missed the final debut lineup, CAELAN emerged as a standout fan favourite, significantly expanding his presence and following among Chinese audiences.
Now primarily based in Beijing, he has since shifted his focus toward building a solo career on his own terms. Shortly after departing the reality competition, he released "Forever With You" as his first solo single—a track he co-wrote and for which he also designed the cover art. More recently, the artist has followed up with releases such as "MISSION (Like Us)" and "Guilty Pleasure".
Today, CAELAN continues to jet-set across the globe, with new ventures taking him from city to city. Most recently, he was spotted walking the runway for London-based designer Feng Chen Wang at Men’s Fashion Week in Paris. While stopping by the little red dot, CAELAN caught up with ELLE Singapore to talk about his music, his sources of inspiration, and where he hopes to go next on his evolving journey as a singer.
