There are icons, and then there’s the Cartier Love bracelet. Worn by “it” girls across generations, from Elizabeth Taylor and Meghan Markle to Kylie Jenner and Deepika Padukone, the bracelet’s unmistakable circular shape, clasp, and screw motif have cemented its status as the ultimate symbol of love. And yes, self-love counts, too. Now, more than half a century later, the story continues.
When designer Aldo Cipullo first introduced the Love bracelet in New York in 1969 at the height of the hippie movement, it was nothing short of radical. An oval bracelet formed of two rigid arcs, fastened by a screwdriver and marked with visible screws, turned jewellery into a manifesto. Love was no longer free-floating—it was declared, worn, and locked into place. And in doing so, Cartier redefined the very idea of adornment: An uncompromising line, precise proportions, and a design so pure that it needed no embellishment.

Over the past decades, Cartier has reinvented its Love collection without ever losing its essence. White gold in 1993. Rose gold in 2002. The philanthropic sparkle of the Love Charity bracelet in 2008. A centenary celebration in 2009 with dazzling editions paved in coloured stones. The mini Love bracelet of 2016. And the 2019 revival of the open version, slipping onto the wrist without a screwdriver. Each evolution reflected the spirit of its time, while the screws—Cartier’s most recognisable code—remained constant.

Now comes Love Unlimited, a reimagining that takes Cipullo’s rigid oval and transforms it into something supple, fluid, and intensely precious. A second-skin creation composed of gadrooned links punctuated with Cartier’s hand-polished screws, it’s the result of over a hundred prototypes and more than 200 miniaturised components. Secured with a patent-pending invisible clasp, it fuses seamlessly into the design, moving with the body while retaining every ounce of Cartier precision.

Love Unlimited is designed for connection. It can be worn solo, linked in pairs, or joined infinitely, forming a flowing chain of affection without end. Its codes also translate into a ring. Miniaturised but no less powerful, it ensures the language of Love remains intact at every scale.
