Sophie Turner toasted to her new St-Germain partnership last night at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City, getting behind the counter to serve guests St-Germain Hugo spritzes made with the elderflower liqueur. It’s her go-to cocktail with her friends, she told ELLE.com ahead of the party. “I do always make this for my girls, and I think I put it down to a T. It’s so refreshing.”
Earlier this month, Turner debuted her “Spritz Up Your Summer” campaign for St-Germain, which was inspired by 2000s rom-coms. The partnership came during a moment in her own life where she wanted to lean into the “whole brighter, sweeter, fresher kind of thing” that summer and the drink evoke, Turner said. “That’s what I’m looking for in my life, and it all just felt like very right time.”
Turner spoke with ELLE.com more about the collaboration, how her self-proclaimed “year of the girlies” has dramatically shifted how she views friendship (and who the loves of her life are), and which two stars would join her dream love interest Billie Eilish in the queer rom-com she’d love to star in. She also has a message to the casting director of the newly-announced The Devil Wears Prada sequel.

On how the collaboration came to be:
So it came around like a few months ago, but I’ve been drinking Hugo spritzes for years and also elderflower is such a big thing in the U.K. I’d just known about it for years, and I always have it. Sometimes people get picked up for brands, and they’re just like, ‘Oh yeah, I have this drink.’ But I’ve actually been drinking it for years.
On creating a rom-com for the campaign’s short film:
You know, I’ve never done a rom-com. As an actor, I’ve always wanted to do [one]. So I was like, ‘OK, well, this is a fun little practice for me.’ And it was just such a cheeky, fun, interesting campaign that I just thought, you know, they’ve got it all kind of nailed down, and I couldn’t really say no. It was too good.

On what her “year of the girlies” has taught her about friendship and love:
Everything, everything. I was living in the States for so long. I wasn’t with my friends, and so I’m back home [in the U.K. now]. I’m with my girls, and I just didn’t realise how much I needed like a support system [like] that, [how much] I need my girls.
“Now I view it as like my best friends are the loves of my life, next to my kids [Turner shares two daughters with her ex, Joe Jonas]. You know, they are the loves of my life. I’ve known all my best friends since I was about two, maybe five. They’re the people that have seen me through the shit, and they don’t judge me for anything. They just embrace and love me and support me and vice versa. They’re the family you choose. Girlfriends are the most important thing.
On who’d she cast as her best friend in her dream rom-com alongside love interest Billie Eilish:
There’s Ayo Edebiri. I already know it’s Ayo. I’m obsessed with her. I think she’s so funny. Bottoms was one of my favourite movies of last year. She’s just amazing. She’s so talented. She would be the best friend, but really, actually, I feel like I should be her best friend, and she should be the lead. She’s too good. She would be amazing.

On who would be in a rom-com love triangle alongside her and Eilish:
Oh my god. Well, since it’s a queer love story, I would probably cast Emma D’Arcy. That would be really fun: Me, Emma D’Arcy, and Billie Eilish. It’s just because I want to hang out with them [and Ayo Edebiri].
On if she wants to be in The Devil Wears Prada’s sequel:
Yes! Oh my god. I’d want to be like an Emily Blunt character, I think. Or like one of Miranda Priestley’s minions—well, like, Emily Blunt [in the first movie]. Oh my god. I can’t wait for that movie. Cast me! I’m free!
