From being in a boy band to starting his own record labels, Korean-American rapper and singer-songwriter Jay Park has done it all. Many would consider him as one of the most influential artistes in the Korean hip-hop scene—being the figure behind popular labels, AOMG and H1ghr Music, which catapulted acts like Simon Dominic, Gray, and pH-1 to the big names they are today. He is also known for successful collaborations with other Korean acts like IU and international ones such as Wiz Khalifa.

His more recent endeavours include his very own spirit brand, Won Soju, and his newest label, More Vision—housing acts such as solo female artiste Chung Ha and female dance crew HolyBang. Jay proves that his influence goes beyond music with his appointment as Gucci’s global brand ambassador in 2023—making appearances at the luxury fashion house’s shows and starring in the Gucci Together campaign earlier this year.

Following his electrifying performance at the inaugural Waterbomb Singapore last year, Jay Park didn’t take too long to make his return to Singapore for his “Serenades & Body Rolls World Tour”. Performing fan-favourite hits such as “All I Wanna Do”, “Mommae” and “Blue Check”, the superstar sure knows how to get the crowd jumping and singing along. For the Singapore leg of his tour, Jay invited homegrown rapper Yung Raja to join him onstage to perform their collaborative track “missed call”—combining English and Tamil lyrics. For the rest of the set, he charmed the crowd with his vocal chops and groovy moves. And of course, you can’t have a Jay Park concert without having a shirtless moment that has the girls screaming.

ELLE Singapore caught up with him backstage to find out what he feels about the Singapore crowd, his dream concert line-up and the celebrity he would swap lives with for 24 hours.
