In an ode to natureโs eternal beauty, Chaumet staged a spectacular celebration in the exuberant setting of Villa El Bosque in Marbella, Spain, on a balmy June evening. Set against the backdrop of the villaโs Andalusian and Moorish heritage, the event brought together the natural world, centuries-old savoir-faire, and a constellation of global stars.
Located on the Spanish coastline and famed for its panoramic sea views, the villa was transformed into an open-air theatre with the high jewellery as the main characters. Candlelight and Andalusian music set the mood, as lush gardens and intricate arches set the stage for the eventโs raison dโetre: The runway presentation of Chaumetโs new Jewels by Nature high jewellery creations, with its masterful homage to flora, fauna and Earthโs elemental beauty.
Opulent, whimsical and poetically earnest in its tribute, Jewels by Nature throws the spotlight on Chaumetโs enduring fascination with botanical motifs, while elevating the ornamental into a celebration of lifeโs multifaceted beauty. Itโs a message made tangible through magnificent gemstones and impeccable craftsmanship thatโs deeply rooted in the Maisonโs 245-year heritage of savoir-faire.

The creations explore the richness of the wild through a series of botanical and naturalistic motifs: Wild roses, ferns, carnations, clovers and sheaves of wheat all find their place in the 64-piece body of work. Far from literal imitations, these pieces are symbolic expressions that capture the glint of morning dew in brilliant-cut diamonds, and lay bare the beauty found in the curve of a petal or the arc of a stem.
Another defining hallmark of Jewels by Nature is its transformability. Several pieces shift effortlessly between styles, offering the freedom to express different facets through a single creation.

The Wild Rose transformable necklace donned by British actress Emilia Clarke that evening, for example, can be worn in three different ways. It took Chaumetโs master craftsman 1,500 hours to bring this piece to life, with the most ingenious detail being the clasp, which allows the piece to transform into a minimalist necklace (sans foliage) or an aigrette. The piรจce de rรฉsistance? A 8.23-carat fancy vivid yellow diamond that sits serenely in the midst of its white-gold-and-diamond frame. To finish her look, Clarke turned to the parureโs earrings, which sparkle with two intense yellow diamonds, measuring 2.60 and 2.68 carats.

A regal vision in blue, Chinese actress and Chaumet ambassador Gao Yuan Yuan chose to pair her gown with the Carnation necklace, a supple white gold beauty that drapes across the bodyโs contours, while featuring a 36.44-carat, oval-cut Ceylon sapphire that can be detached and worn solo on a simpler diamond-set chain. This necklace took eight weeks to produce, and features three shades of sapphires, a cushion-cut diamond of 1.51 carats, as well as four other pear-shaped diamonds totalling 2.17 carats. Gao also adorned her finger with the parureโs white gold ring with sapphires, diamonds and an impressive oval-cut 20.04-carat blue Ceylon sapphire.

Then, of course, there are the extraordinary gemstones that lie at the heart of the collection. Sharing the spotlight with impressive Ceylon sapphires and yellow diamonds are Colombian emeraldsโthe stone of choice for Korean actress and Chaumet ambassador Song Hye Kyo that evening. Her Clover & Fern necklaceโinspired by an 1853 green enamel and diamond naturalist brooch from the brandโs archivesโbears lucky four-leaf clovers that surround a trio of stones totalling 11.61 carats. The necklaceโs light yet commanding filigree work took the workshop 1,250 hours to achieve, with cut-down, bezel and illusion settings holding their stones in place as if by magic. (The parure also includes a 5.19-carat pear-cut Colombian emerald ring, and a pair of earrings totalling 6.65 carats.)
Another highlight from the collection is the transformable Sweetshrub necklace, with a lustrous string of generously-sized pink pearls to its name. The perfectly matched 10mm freshwater pearls are held together by a detachable flower clasp that can also be worn as a brooch. Two shades of spinel and three shades of sapphire colour its delicate petals, in the midst of which sits a 44.23-carat cushion-cut pink spinel thatโs tinged with violet. For the ring, Chaumet similarly chose a 14.41-carat cushion-cut spinel to gaze out of its bed of shaded pink petals. And to complete the picture are two delicate openworked butterfly brooches that showcase the Maisonโs virtuosity.

For those who prefer a more monochromatic approach, the Magnolia Grandiflora parure presents a masterclass in diamonds. Comprising nine white gold designs including a secret watch, the range of creations captures the different stages of the flowerโs lifeโfrom the budding blooms of the pavรฉ earrings with two 2.52- and 2.51-carat diamond drops, to the full bloom of the snow-set tiara with a darling 2.02-carat pear-shaped diamond at the flowerโs heart. Then of course, thereโs the magnificent necklace, which took 1,150 hours of meticulous craftsmanship to realise. It is graced with a 5.26-carat pear-shaped diamond drop.
Jewels by Nature unfolds through three chapters: Everlasting Flora, which looks to wild species (such as the Wild Rose and Clover & Fern) whose life cycles mark the renewal of seasons with flourish; Ephemeral Nature, which celebrates the beauty of short-lived blooms like the Carnation and Sweetshrub; and Reviving, with flowers, like the proud Magnolia, so treasured by the brandโs constant inspiration, Empress Josephine of France.
With its breadth of inspirations and techniques employed, Chaumetโs latest high jewellery creations present a thesis on the Maisonโs interpretation of nature, rendered in an impressive trove of precious stones. Itโs a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us, and invites us to view nature as Chaumet doesโas an eternal muse.
