
The annual Primetime Emmy Awards are back to celebrate the best in television. With this year's ceremony taking place later in September, there's plenty of time to catch up on the nominated series. With a lineup of critically-acclaimed dramas, cult-favourites, and fun comedies to choose from, here are 10 Emmy-nominated series to tune in to before the big night.

Severance

Dominating this year's nominations is Severance with a jaw-dropping 27 nominations. These include Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress for Adam Scott and Britt Lower, Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series for Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, and John Turturro, Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for Patricia Arquette. Additionally, the series was nominated for Outstanding Directing for Ben Stiller and Jessica Lee Gagné and Outstanding Writing for Dan Erickson.
The science fiction thriller follows the employees at Lumon Industries, a biotechnology corporation, who have undergone a medical procedure—known as 'severance'—that ensures they retain no memories of the outside world at work and no recollection of their job once they leave.

The Penguin

The Penguin follows suit with 24 nominations. These include Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress In A Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti. In addition, the series earned nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Deirdre O'Connell, Outstanding Directing For A Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for both Helen Shaver and Jennifer Getzinger, and Outstanding Writing For A Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Lauren LeFranc. The spin-off to Matt Reeves' The Batman follows the rise to power of Colin's Oz Cobb's in Gotham City's criminal underworld.

The Studio

The Studio became the most-nominated freshman comedy series in history with 23 nominations. These include Outstanding Lead Actor, Directing, and Writing For A Comedy Series for Seth Rogen, Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series for Ike Barinholtz, and Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series for Kathryn Hahn and Catherine O’Hara. The satirical comedy follows Seth's Matt Remick as a Hollywood studio head, as he struggles between corporate demands and his passion for producing quality films.

The White Lotus

The third season of The White Lotus also earned 23 nominations. These include Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series for Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, and Sam Rockwell, Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, and Aimee Lou Wood, and Outstanding Directing and Writing For A Drama Series for creator Mike White. The third season of the black comedy follows guests and staff during a week spent at the luxury resort hotel chain in Thailand.

Abbott Elementary

Abbott Elementary received nominations in various categories. These include Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Quinta Brunson, and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Additionally, the show garnered nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series for Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph. The mockumentary comedy follows the faculty of a predominantly Black public school in West Philadelphia.

The Last Of Us

The second season of The Last of Us earned nominations in multiple categories, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress In A Drama Series for Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. This season follows Pedro's Joel and Ramsey's Ellie five years after the events of the first season.

The Bear

The third season of The Bear earned nominations in multiple categories. In the third season of the comedy-drama continues Carmy's (played by Jeremy) journey to make his restaurant, The Bear, into a fine dining establishment.

In addition, the show is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Owen Cooper and Ashley Walters, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco, and Outstanding Directing in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Philip Barantini. The psychological drama follows a 13-year-old schoolboy who is arrested after the murder of a girl in his school, with each episode shot in one continuous take.

Only Murders In The Building

Only Murders In The Building also took home nominations in multiple categories. These include Outstanding Comedy Series as well as Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series for Martin Short. The fourth season of this mystery comedy drama follows Martin's Oliver alongside Charles (played by Steve Martin) and Mabel (played by Selena Gomez) as they investigate another murder case in their apartment building.
