The new Loro Piana collection for fall/winter 2025 is titled “The Way We Were”. That refers not to nostalgia, but to a certain sense of timelessness that has always been woven into the brand’s DNA. As its starting point, the collection imagines a journey on horseback through the vast, untamed landscapes of Argentina, the Scottish Highlands, New Zealand and Australia. The results are rich, earthy colours lifted from nature—with evocative names such as dark maple leaf, tundra soil, deep oak, dark brandy and creamy vanilla—as well as textures that speak of both ruggedness and refinement, just begging to be touched. There’s cashmere, of course, but also cheviot, abaca, silk, cashmere melton and Merino wool.

These are employed on pieces cut in easy, fluid volumes that move with the body without constricting it. One of the brand’s staple pieces, the Spagna jacket, appears in multiple variations this season. There is a cropped version, as well as a pencil silhouette that falls to the knee—emphasising the versatility of the piece. As always, tailoring is a key building block of the collection, this season refreshed with nods to the Argentinian and Scottish countryside which show up as long skirts, quilted jackets and caps. Knitwear adds another layer of tactility to a
collection that is all about caressing and enveloping the body. For evening, the House envisions a night at the opera—long, lean lines rendered in silk satin, jacquard silk and charmeuse.

Loro Piana is a brand that thinks about the small details as much as it does the big picture. Here, accessories are not an afterthought but a key component of the total vision. Hats, whether wide- or short-brimmed, complete the feeling of dressed-up elegance. Jewellery in geometric shapes made of enamel, metal and leather provide a visual contrast to the serenity and fluidity of the clothes. Shoes are flat and streamlined, with boots, loafers and netted slippers grounding the looks in polished practicality.

But the standout accessory of the season is the Needle bag, a new style introduced for fall/winter 2025. Inspired by the bags artisans use to carry their knitting needles, it is a new take on the classic bowling style that combines both softness and structure in one sinuous form. A single piece of leather unites the sides, emphasising the shape of the top and creating a seamless flow—a complex construction that underscores the savoir-faire at the heart of the House.

Versatility is built into the bag—it can be hand-carried by its handles, or slung across the body or over the shoulder via an adjustable strap. Available in two sizes and three materials—fine grained leather, velvet calf and tweed—the bag also comes in a myriad of colours: Almond, Persimmon, Moorland, Fossil, Blue Navy, Black, Whisper White, Light Mastic, and Wish Cash Tweed. The House’s selection of charms—including playful sheep and alpaca ones in cashmere and leather—allow for further personalisation of this future classic.
