This week, Chanel creative director Matthieu Blazy presented his first Cruise collection for the Maison since his tenure began in late 2024. Set in the French coastal holiday town of Biarritz, where Gabrielle Chanel opened her first couture salon in 1915 and presented her first collections, it was a homecoming in the truest sense of the word. Chanel opted to present the collection at the Biarritz Casino, a stone’s throw away from the couture house. The casino was transformed to mirror the elegant simplicity of the original space, complete with mirrored walls and windows that opened to a magnificent view of the Atlantic ocean.

The clothes harkened to Gabrielle Chanel’s vision for the House in the art deco period too, building upon the sleek graphics of her time for the modern eye. Colourful, fluttering silk ensembles called back to the vibrance of the Basque coast from which she sought inspiration, while signature Chanel codes like the Double Cs were built into the very structure of dresses and blouses.
Bearing witness from the front row were global ambassadors and Friends of The House like A$AP Rocky, Tilda Swinton and ELLE Singapore’s December 2025 cover stars Miu Natsha and Lena Schuett—old and new faces trusted with carrying forth the energy of today’s Chanel.
