The Le Pliage is one of fashion’s more reliable certainties. Since its debut over 30 years ago, it has lived at the intersection of functionality and style, folding neatly into overhead compartments and weekend bags, without ever looking out of place. For its fall 2026 collection, Longchamp’s creative director, Sophie Delafontaine, says she pictured “a woman of the world, insatiably curious, and for whom every journey is a source of inspiration.” Art feeds into that vision: Embroidery artist Caroline Helain contributes abstract textile landscapes, while the sculptural green staircase of Longchamp’s La Maison Unique in SoHo, envisioned by Thomas Heatherwick, lends the season its graphic edge.

And when it comes to the Le Pliage bags, that translates to two new iterations rooted in a collection built around curiosity and movement. Take the Le Pliage Xtra, for example. The leather bag arrives with a graphic new design and proportions that feel instinctive. Long handles and an elongated east-west silhouette let it sit over the shoulder or tuck under the arm. But don’t be fooled by its small size; it is built precisely for the day’s essentials. For Delafontaine, it “shapes a silhouette in motion—contemporary and monochrome, never monotonous.” Crafted from supple cowhide leather, it comes in deep shades such as Mocha, Lime, Tundra, and Wave, as well as revisited classics like Black, Paper, and Dove.

Then there is the Le Pliage One, which is built on a premise so clean it distills down to three ideas: One icon, one concept, one colour. From the 70 per cent recycled nylon canvas to the cowhide leather flap and hardware, every element arrives in a single, unbroken shade: Deepest Black, Charcoal Grey, Nude Beige, Rich Burgundy, or the season’s standout, Lemon Yellow. The handles are slightly longer this time, designed to be carried close to the body. Delafontaine calls it a bag “carried by curious minds [that] stands out with its bold handles and unique colour.” The monochrome approach strips the bag back to its architecture. And the architecture, as it turns out, is very good. The best part? You can personalise the bags through charms and other accessories.
Together, the Le Pliage One and the Le Pliage Xtra make the same case in different registers. If you ask us, these are bags for the woman who already knows what she wants. And gets it.
