At just 20 years old, Thai singer Jadenipit “Marquise” Auramornrat is all too familiar with starting over. After years of K-pop auditions through her teenage years, she found herself in Los Angeles, where she honed her performance skills under K-pop agency HYBE and American record label Geffen’s training programme alongside tens of other young hopefuls, far from home and chasing the same dream. After two years of training, she and her peers were whisked onto Dream Academy, the reality television talent competition that later formed the girl group KATSEYE. While Marquise did not make the cut, she rebuilt her confidence and worked her way towards a new beginning as a soloist, a dream she finally realised this June with her debut single “dontneedyouanymore”.
Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, Marquise began dreaming of life on the stage at 12 after discovering K-pop and becoming a fan of the genre. Having developed a love for singing and dancing early in her childhood, she started to train as a dancer in earnest soon after, and she began auditioning for K-pop labels in hopes of becoming an idol. After moving to the US in the mid-teens, Marquise jumped at the opportunity when HYBE x Geffen announced they would be scouting for a global girl group in late 2021. Rounds and rounds of auditions later, she earned her place in a rigorous training programme with girls just like her from all over the world.

Her progress was well-documented in Netflix’s Pop Star Academy: Katseye, which followed the behind-the-scenes process that led to the girl group’s formation. One of the early members to join the programme, Marquise grew as a performer over her training, with her peers and trainers praising her skills as a dancer. Two years into her training, HYBE and Geffen dropped a bomb on her and her fellow trainees: They would now be competing with one another for a place in the girl group through Dream Academy, a fan-interactive project involving rounds of missions and audience votes over three months.
Marquise was officially introduced to the public eye at 17, when the project kicked off in August 2023. She quickly caught the attention of viewers in the first live mission, where she performed a dance cover of NewJeans’ “OMG” and later, in a fiery cover of Demi Lovato’s “Confident” with would-be KATSEYE members Lara, Megan and Yoonchae, proving her versatility across genres and concepts. Despite a few close calls, Marquise held on to her place in the programme until its finale and finished in tenth place as one of the most popular trainees.

Like many of her fellow Dream Academy alumni, she spent the months that followed the programme figuring out her next steps. She continued her training for most of 2024, though the singer never specified if she had signed with another K-pop agency. Marquise seemingly returned to Bangkok in late 2024, and began sharing occasional dance and vocal covers while taking on modelling gigs and brand partnerships through 2025. During this time, she worked with both international and Thai brands like Coach, Puma, Gentlewoman, and attended the 2025 ELLE Thailand Fashion Week with EVERYWEEK.OUTFIT.
In May 2026, Marquise shared that she had signed with Thai entertainment agency YUPP! Entertainment, becoming labelmates with musicians like rapper MILLI and singer Galchanie. By the end of June, Marquise unveiled her debut digital single “dontneedyouanymore”, officially kicking off her solo music career. She co-wrote its lyrics with singer-songwriter Fyeqoodgurl, who also co-composed the track, and contributed to its accompanying choreography. A bittersweet R&B pop number, “dontneedyouanymore” is a musical coming-of-age moment where Marquise sheds her past experiences and steps into the spotlight with newfound confidence.

The single has accumulated over 1.7 million streams on Spotify in the month since its release, rising more and more each day. As for what her next release might sound like, the singer previously named Jennie and Ariana Grande as musical influences, and shared that she was a fan of 2000s pop music. After years of arduous training and starting over, Marquise is finally playing her hand and returning to the stage as a full-fledged pop star.
