Sustainability has long been a buzzword in fashion but few brands have reshaped materials quite like Prada. Since launching Re-Nylon in 2019, the House has developed its signature textile from 100 per cent recycled materials. Made of regenerated plastic waste sourced from oceans, landfills and textile fibres, it is designed to be broken down and remade repeatedly without losing quality. It exists within a circular loop, where each piece can be reconstituted into new materials at the end of its life. In many ways, it builds on Prada’s long-standing relationship with nylon, first brought into the luxury space by Miuccia Prada decades ago. Fronted by actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Letitia Wright, the latest campaign places the ocean at its centre, with a series of documentary films created in collaboration with National Geographic CreativeWorks.

Episode 1
In the first episode, Cumberbatch dives off Japan’s Izu Peninsula, into an underwater environment full of fish, coral formations and a lone sea turtle. The film draws attention to the fragility of the ocean’s ecosystem, emphasising the need to protect marine life.
Episode 2
The second episode follows Wright to the coast of Hawai‘i and home to an extraordinarily diverse marine life. Nearly a quarter of the marine species here are unique to these waters and cannot be found elsewhere. She speaks with Dr. Kapono Ciotti, director of the Pacific American Foundation, a partner of the Hawai’i Blue Schools Hui. Through a two-year educational journey, the Hawai’i Blue Schools Hui builds students' ocean literacy through projects that celebrate the island state's unique biodiversity.

Supporting the sustainability message is a new five-piece capsule collection of lightweight backpacks, pouches and outerwear. Rendered in the signature Re-Nylon palette of black, Baltic blue and white—now expanded to include emerald, celeste blue, orange and yellow—the pieces are collapsible, functional, and most importantly fully recyclable. More than a material update, Re-Nylon signals an expansion in the luxury mindset, where fashion is not just about quality and creation, but also continuity and care.

As of July 2023, one per cent of the proceeds from the Prada Re-Nylon for SEA BEYOND Collection go to the SEA BEYOND educational project conducted by Prada and UNESCO, which aims to raise awareness of sustainability and ocean preservation.
