Two decades after Omega introduced the Planet Ocean into its beloved Seamaster collection and the Swiss watchmaker is back with the dive watch’s fourth iteration—the model’s most comprehensive evolution yet. Rather than a simple cosmetic refresh, this release is a rethink from the ground up that sharpens the collection’s identity while firmly positioning it as a product of today. The most immediate difference is its proportions: The new Planet Ocean reverts to its original diameter of 42mm, but with a significantly slimmer, flatter profile than previous editions—a 2.3mm difference compared to the third generation.

Design-wise, Omega has introduced a more angular, ergonomic aesthetic, inspired by Seamaster models from the 1980s and 1990s. The case has been re-engineered into two parts and now features an inner titanium ring to enhance structural integrity when diving at great depths. And in a decisive break from the past, the helium escape valve, a defining feature for so long, has been removed entirely, resulting in cleaner lines and a more contemporary profile. The matt black dial showcases this model’s signature arrowhead hands and bold luminous indexes, alongside squarer, open-work Arabic numerals. Powered by the METAS-certified Master Chronometer Calibre 8912, the new Planet Oceans are a masterclass of editing that distils a 20-year legacy down to its essence.
