Everyone seems to have a Korean, Chinese, or Thai celebrity crush they can’t help but swoon over. But look a little closer, and you’ll find Malaysian actor Hun Haqeem quietly proving he has the looks, talent, and screen presence to rival them all.

One of the most notable young talents in Malaysia’s entertainment industry, Hun didn’t originally set his sights on becoming an actor. After graduating, he pursued a stable job in corporate communications at a local news company. But deep down, he craved something more; a career driven by passion, not just stability. His love for movies, nurtured during family movie nights with his parents and three older siblings, ultimately sparked the beginning of his acting journey.

At 21, Hun began attending casting calls, which led to his acting debut in the telemovie Tasbih Usang (2019). His big break followed soon after with Kampung People (2019), where his acting skills and striking looks caught the public’s attention and opened new doors for him. His versatility shone through as he transitioned from comedy to more intense roles, such as in W: Two Worlds—a remake of the popular Korean action-fantasy drama led by Lee Jong-suk and Han Hyo-joo. For the project, Hun underwent a dramatic body transformation and trained in stunt choreography. Hun’s rising star hasn’t gone unnoticed: Last year, he won the Most Popular TV Actor award at the 36th Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian.

More recently, Hun earned widespread praise for his performance in the 2025 series Mandul Bukan Pilihan. Starring as Aldi opposite actress Mira Filzah, he portrays a husband navigating the emotional struggles of starting a family. With his natural charm and heartfelt delivery, Hun captivates audiences—especially in the more vulnerable, emotional moments—drawing them deeper into the story.

The actor from Kuching, Sarawak, has proven that his talents extend well beyond acting. Not only can he carry a tune, but he also showcased his vocal abilities on the Malaysian edition of The Masked Singer, where he placed sixth. He further displayed his musicality by contributing to the original soundtrack of the 2025 film Soloz: Game of Life, in which he also plays the lead role. At 27, Hun has made his mark not just in entertainment but in the beauty world as well. Earlier this year, he was appointed Emporio Armani Malaysia Fragrance Ambassador, fronting the brand’s Stronger With You campaign.

Beyond supporting his on-screen projects, Hun’s dedicated fanbase, affectionately known as “Huniverse”, showed their unwavering support during his friendly boxing match against fellow actor Ikmal Amry at the Fury Championship, a combat sports event held in May this year. Hun is currently on set filming his latest project, Ragging: Melawan Bungkam, a film that tackles the issue of bullying and the silence of bystanders. As he continues to take on diverse and meaningful roles, audiences can look forward to seeing even more depth, versatility, and ambition from this rising Malaysian star.
