The 31st edition of the Star Awards unfolded at The Theatre at Mediacorp on 19 April, with the theme “Born to Glow” setting the tone for the night. And the room understood the assignment a little too well. While Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story swept with six major wins, including Best Drama Serial and a long-overdue Best Actress victory for Jesseca Liu, the real spectacle began before anyone even took their seats.
This year’s red carpet leaned decisively into high-exposure glamour. He Yingying and Bonnie Loo moved in sheer, diaphanous gowns that caught the light with every step, while Desmond Tan and James Seah abandoned the traditional penguin suit altogether, opting instead for bold silhouettes and ties that felt considered rather than ceremonial.

Beyond the spectacle, the night delivered on legacy. Our February 2025 cover star Carrie Wong was crowned the youngest-ever All-Time Favourite Artiste at just 32, joining Romeo Tan in the hall of fame. Desmond Tan doubled down on his winning streak with a second Best Actor trophy for Devil Behind The Gate, alongside his 10th Top 10 win—placing him, together with Ya Hui and Paige Chua, firmly on track for All-Time Favourite status next year.
Beyond the trophies, the red carpet was a masterclass in artisanal luxury. From international guest Luo Yunxi’s stage-side presence to local icons like our digital cover stars Zoe Tay and Rebecca Lim, the evening’s fashion was defined by daring sheer silhouettes, statement neckties, and an extraordinary display of high jewellery, horology and fashion.
