Born in Singapore and raised in Saudi Arabia, Thailand and the UK, Ashley Teo’s exposure to diverse cultures shaped her global outlook from early on. Coupled with a no-risk, no-story mindset, she made the bold decision to leave a comfortable corporate job as Vice President of ER (Employee Relations) Business Management at Barclays in London, to become a full-time content creator last year, a decision which brought her back to Singapore, and has taken her to cities such as Osaka and London. This year alone, she’s travelled to Seoul for a K-pop festival, spoken at Visa x TikTok’s GenVisa conference in Shanghai, and attended Shanghai Fashion Week. She has also collaborated with K-pop idols like Yuchan and 8TURN. While dance is still a big part of her content, these days, Ashley is focused on expanding her portfolio to include lifestyle, beauty and fashion.

ON CREATING DANCE CONTENT

I’ve been a K-pop fan for almost 15 years. I learned the choreography off YouTube, just for fun. Eventually, I started taking dance classes while working full-time and things slowly evolved. Dance is still a huge part of my content today. I can’t believe that I get to collaborate with idols I once edited myself next to in fan videos. Now I’m actually sharing the frame with them! It usually happens when brands reach out while I’m in Korea, and it still feels surreal every time. These are the moments my younger self dreamt of. Looking ahead, I’m excited to explore hosting and finding my voice in formats beyond dance. I’d also love to moderate panels, lead live events, and create space for meaningful conversations.”

ON FASHION

“Recreating K-pop idols’ looks helped me discover my own style. Some days, it’s tailored and minimal, other days it’s oversized hoodies and layered textures. I love Korean fashion brand Badblood’s distressed, asymmetrical vibe; Prada’s clean lines with a rebellious twist; and Diesel’s raw, deconstructed looks.”
