When perfumer Francis Kurkdjian took on the mantle of Perfume Creation Director at Dior, he carried with him a mission: To reinterpret the Maison’s most iconic fragrance for a new generation. The result is Miss Dior Essence, a striking reimagining that he describes as “fruity, luscious, juicy, and sensual”.
Inspired by the liberated energy of youth, Kurkdjian frames this edition as a modern-feminine fragrance for the times. “My Miss Dior is rather like contemporary girls… intense and concentrated, it leaves a vivid, addictive scent behind that is hyper-feminine, but also refuses anything that might hinder freedom,” he says. “I imagined the scent of Miss Dior Essence as a sexy and irreverent pop art statement, like a reflection of the Serge Gainsbourg song "Comic Strip", which goes ‘SHEBAM! POW! BLOP! WIZZ‘!”

And what does pop-art irreverence smell like? Kurkdjian reinterprets the original chypre structure with a modern gourmand edge. Blackberry and elderflower lead with jammy sweetness, brightened by jasmine sambac and grounded in dark oakwood. The result? A rich, woody-fruity blend that’s addictive yet sophisticated—the olfactory equivalent of a fuchsia miniskirt and a leather jacket.

That idea runs through the campaign starring Oscar-winning actress and director Natalie Portman. Directed by Manu Cossu, it follows her through Paris in a head-turning red dress and biker boots. Shot in the grand halls of the National French Library and across zinc rooftops, the film shows her racing through love and life, echoing the same question she has asked for over a decade: “And you, what would you do for love?”

The bottle has been reworked to match this attitude. The classic silhouette—“cut like a suit”—returns in frosted glass engraved with Dior’s houndstooth motif, finished with a black grosgrain bow that nods to the original 1947 design.
In both scent and image, Miss Dior Essence channels the spirit of Catherine Dior (sister of Christian Dior and Resistance hero), whose courage and modernity inspired the very first Miss Dior. Today, it reemerges as a concentrated nectar devoted to “impetuous youth that refuses to be morose”. With its blend of fruity exuberance and woody sensuality, Miss Dior Essence is more than a fragrance—it is Dior’s rallying cry for women to embrace life, loudly and unapologetically.
