Awards season has officially started with the 82nd Golden Globes on 5 January kicking things off with a bang. From host and comedian Nikki Glaser’s epic Wicked tribute and savage celebrity roasts (barring one questionable Diddy quib), to Demi Moore’s long-awaited, much-deserved Best Performance win in The Substance (her first-ever major acting award, can you believe it?), this year’s Golden Globes provided guests and viewers with plenty of drama—not least in the form of the fashion moments that took place on the red carpet right before the ceremony started.

Before Zoe Saldaña won audiences over with her teary-eyed, emotional acceptance speech (she won Best Performance for her supporting actress role in Emilia Pérez), she had already wowed them on the red carpet with her look that evening: A black Saint Laurent sequin gown with honeycombed Cartier necklace sitting prettily between the dip of her plunging neckline. Equally demure and mindful, Selena Gomez looked every inch a Golden Age screen siren in a custom Prada ice blue gown paired with a diamond knockout from Tiffany & Co’s Blue Book 2024: Tiffany Céleste collection. Zendaya went a similar Old Hollywood route (to no less stunning effect) in a custom Louis Vuitton burnt orange gown with Bvlgari diamonds—and a 5-carat cushion diamond Jessica McCormack ring that had the whole internet obsessed with the “did they didn’t they” news of her engagement to Tom Holland. Another personal favourite? Emma Stone in a traffic-stopping custom Louis Vuitton red gown with mismatched Louis Vuitton earrings to accompany her amazing new pixie cut. We could not heart any harder.

From saturated-coloured gems to timeless, faultless diamonds, the night had plenty of winning sights to offer style lovers. Scroll down to feast your eyes on the incredible jewellery that made their way on the red carpet that night.

Captivating in Cartier

Zoe Saldaña taught the world how to cry beautifully when she gave her acceptance speech for her best performance by a supporting actress win for Emilia Pérez—and undoubtedly won many new fans in the process. She was a masterclass in elegance in Saint Laurent, with no small thanks going towards the bee-inspired Melis designs from Cartier’s Nautre Sauvage collection, which made their world debut at the event. The necklace alone, adorned with Fancy Intense yellow diamonds, required 738 hours of highly specialised work.

All eyes were on Demi Moore as she accepted her first-ever major industry award in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé champagne silk gown that she paired with diamond pieces from Cartier. We loved her choice of slender drop earrings (adorned with diamonds and opals), which showed brilliantly against her long black hair that she left down. Her role in The Substance saw her winning Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

Anna Sawai

Winning the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series for her role in Shogun, Anna Sawai made for an immaculate sight in a white leather bustier top and long white silk skirt by Dior (who took 450 hours to produce the look), and a 1996 reversible Cartier Collection necklace in white and yellow gold with diamonds, accompanied by a Cartier Collection ring from 2006.

Tantalising In Tiffany & Co.

Selena Gomez

A decade after singing about marquise diamonds and making Tiffany jealous in her 2015 pop hit “Good for You”, Selena Gomez showed she was living her dream when she turned up at the Awards ceremony in a custom off-shoulder ice blue column gown by Prada that showed off her Tiffany & Co. rocks: In addition to the generously sized diamond earrings and ring, Gomez wore a Blue Book 2024: Tiffany Céleste - Shooting Star necklace with a detachable 18-carat emerald-cut centre pendant. All this in addition to the 8-carat marquise-cut engagement ring that Benny Blanco gave her.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Not to be outdone, Anya Taylor-Joy was a sight to behold in an archival Dior slip dress that showed off her statuesque form in all the right ways. To top it off, she wore Tiffany & Co’s magnificent Blue Book 2024: Tiffany Céleste - Star Burst necklace in platinum, gold, diamonds and six unenhanced crystal opals of over 64 total carats that complemented the pale pink of her dress to perfection. A cuff from the same suite sat regally beneath her on-tone shawl.

Legendary in Louis Vuitton

Emma Stone

We love, love, love the fact that Emma Stone chose a ruby red silk bustier gown to show off her fresh, new pixie cut. Leaving her shoulders completely bare, the actress went with another bold choice to finish her look with just Louis Vuitton’s Awakened Hands, Awakened Minds - Vision asymmetric earrings (they feature two octagonal step-cut yellow sapphires 7.45 and 6.50 carats each) and the Optimisme ring (from the same collection with a  2.12-carat LV Monogram Star-cut diamond). Minimalism for maximum impact.

Cate Blanchett

Let’s be realistic: Besides a wedding dress, no one buys a gown for just one occasion. The fact that Cate Blanchett definitely has the means to do so if she wants but chooses to be a staunch outfit repeater instead scores major points in our books. Here, she is wearing the same Louis Vuitton gown that she wore to the premiere of her film Rumours at Cannes last May, but customised with large stones to its front and hand-embroidered details at the shoulder for a point of difference. High jewellery Victorie diamond earrings in white and yellow gold, and a Le Damier de Louis Vuitton ring completed the look.

Other Award-winning Looks

Zendaya
Zendaya in Louis Vuitton and Bvlgari.

How could we possibly leave Zendaya out from this list? Much like Selena Gomez, the freshly engaged multi-hyphenate placed her bets on a look that simply dripped with Old Hollywood glamour—and won big in the process. Wearing a saffron double silk satin column bustier gown with pleated train (custom Louis Vuitton), she topped off her outfit with a high jewelry necklace of 12 pear-shaped diamonds, 21 round diamonds, 72 step-cut diamonds, and one 31-carat Paraíba tourmaline from Mozambique—courtesy of Bvlgari. Then, there’s of course that ring: A 5-carat cushion diamond Jessica McCormack ring that showed the world she and Tom are officially off the market.

Felicity Jones
Felicity Jones in Prada and Chopard.

How do you make a splash on the red carpet? Why, turn up in a viral dress, of course! In Felicity Jones’s case, said dress was a silver mirror Prada dress with crystal rhinestone floral details for even more visual punch. To balance the OTT impact of the dress, Jones showed restraint and kept her hairdo sleek—all the better to showcase the over-9-carat diamond ear studs and a 5.01-carat oval-shaped diamond from Chopard's Haute Joaillerie collection.

Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga, Boucheron and Omega.

Another fan favourite was Nicole Kidman, who stepped out regally onto the red carpet with a custom version of a Balenciaga Couture collection backless gown with a crystal rhinestone embroidered mesh tain. Jewellery by Boucheron—Lierre de Paris pendant earrings set with close to 60 carats of tanzanites, and a Vendôme Liseré ring with a central 4.10-carat emerald-cut diamond—and a charming 1920s Art Nouveau diamond timepiece with fabric strap from Omega added to her poise.

Looking immaculately sweet and demure, Margaret Qualley would have been the belle of any debutante ball. Her silk confectionary dress by Chanel is comprised of around 7,000 embroidered elements, which took 400 hours to create. To finish the look with aplomb, The Substance actress chose diamond and cultured pearl creations from Chanel: The LUME Singulière head jewels was teamed with Tweed Pearlé earrings and Tweed Icône Ruban ring.
