What our father figures truly need is time to do the things they love with the ones they love. This Father's Day, show your appreciation by letting dad revisit the hobbies he's been pushing aside. And you might be surprised at how much he'd appreciate your presence. That is, so long as everyone's on their best behaviour.
At least for some, the ideal Father's Day plan is centred around quality time over luxury. With that in mind, we've curated a list of budget-friendly activities you can do with dad in Singapore without breaking the bank.

Retreat To The Countryside

Who says Singapore can’t have their version of a “euro-summer”? This goes out to all the dads who need a break from the bustling city life. They’ll thank you for this laid-back retreat, and truth be told, you’ve been needing it too. Inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique La Terrace at Claudine hosts Rendez-vous: Summer in Session this Sunday. Think an evening of feel-good DJ sets, chilled cocktails and seasonal bites that’ll have you both transported to the terraces of Provence. Spend the terrace time to relax, catch up, and discuss everything you and dad have been missing over savoury snacks and fresh spritzes.
Rendez-vous: Summer in Session takes place at Claudine, 39C Harding Road, Singapore 249541 on Sunday, 21 June 2026 from 6pm onwards. RSVP here to gain free entry. This is a free-standing event with limited seating available on a first-come, first serve basis. RSVP does not guarantee seating. Pets are welcomed outdoors. For more information, visit the Claudine official website.
Spend Quality Time Fishing

Some may still remember the pure joy on their dad's proud face the day they watched you reel in your very first fish. This Father's Day might be the perfect time to bring out his inner angler. As a former fishing village, you can bet that there are plenty of spots to cast a line around the island. The Bedok Jetty, located in Area F at East Coast Park (ECP), is a concrete jetty extending 250m out to sea. It offers views of both the coastline and city skyline. Changi Beach Park lets you cast your lines along the entire white sand beach. Although, anglers recommend setting up along the car parks. The outdoors has a way of bringing people together. It offers a serene setting for a bonding activity that feels equal parts peaceful and exhilarating. Contradictory, yes, but that's exactly the magic of it. A heart-to-heart, a chilled beer in hand, and before you know it, the heavy tug will have both of you feverishly reeling it in.
Explore more fishing grounds around Singapore at the National Park Boards’ official website. Bring essential fishing gear. Fish early in the morning or during dusk and avoid fishing during heavy rain. Take note of weather alerts and possible temporary closures. The use of public jetties for recreational fishing in Singapore do not require a license.

Catch An Art Exhibition by Ripple Root

What better way to honour a dad's lifetime of devotion than to take hime to an art exhibition that speaks to exactly that? Ripple Root is made up of Liquan Liew and Estella Ng. The Singaporean artist duo are known for painting the island in technicolour. Their latest exhibition titled Postcards From My Darling Love showcases a series of contemporary works inspired by local memory and the city as they were backdropped in Hussein Haniff's 1965 film Chinta Kasih Sayang ("My Darling Love"). Through paint and mixed media, the works reinterprets the 1960s Singapore with wit and their personal artistic dynamic. Their whimsical works go deeper than what meets the eye, opening up conversations around domestic life, love and longing, all coming together as a love letter to Singapore.
Postcards From My Darling Love by Ripple Root is having its opening reception on Thursday, 18 June 2026 at 7pm to 9pm. The exhibition takes place at Objectifs Lower Galleries 1 & 2, 155 Middle Road, Singapore 188977. The exhibition will be happening from 18 June to 28 June 2026, with an Artist Talk set on Saturday, 27 June 2026 at 2pm to 3.30pm. Admissions are free. Register here to attend the Artist Talk. For more information, visit Objectifs’ official website.
Go Sightseeing At The Southern Ridges

Whether you and dad are aiming to start the morning slow or catch a mesmerising view high above the city during sunset, the Southern Ridges is the place for a worthwhile adventure. To earn the view is to conquer the terrain. The Marang Trail hike is a perfect excuse for some bonding time with dad free from life’s distractions. The moderate hike is accessible from HarbourFront station exit D, with parking available for those driving. As you reach Mount Faber Point, aka the summit, take in sweeping views of the urban landscape, the harbour, and the Southern Islands. At night, the lights of the distant city twinkle, making the picturesque setting all the more rewarding for conversations you both may have been needing all along.
Note that the Marang Trail is unlit after dark and covers an elevation of 70m. It's less suitable for young children or those less fit. For an easier alternative, the Singapore Cable Car reaches Faber Peak with round trip tickets priced from $31.50 to $40.80 per person. The Mount Faber Line June Local Exclusive, from now till 30 June 2026, offers a discounted rate of $12 per person for a round trip.

BBQ At East Coast Park

I have yet to meet a dad who doesn't revel in a good barbecue. This Father's Day, book a pit early and marinate his favourite cuts ahead of time. Get the family together to plan what goes on the grill: the sides, appetisers and beverages. Prep the tools, cutlery and storage, and get everyone involved. Fan the coals, pour out the drinks and set up the family games. Let dad revel in the ocean breeze while still keeping a watchful eye on the meats. After all, he's still the undisputed boss when it comes to the grill.
Book a barbecue pit at the National Park Board’s official website.
