Following the success of their previous Super Wide collection, Levi's, known for its timeless American style, and beloved Japanese clothing company and retailer, BEAMS, have embarked on their fourth capsule collection, finding inspiration in subtle, simple and elegant garments from 1944. 

Levi’s and BEAMS go way back, with their first collection, “INSIDE OUT” in 2019, and their second, “HALF AND HALF” the following year. The pair’s unique collaborations displayed innovation in design – from apparels flipped inside out, to asymmetrical fronts with copper shank buttons – storytelling the brands’ rich histories.

The first instalment of “SUPER WIDE” was released around this time in 2021 – but now, the iconic 1944 “SUPER WIDE” jean style is back for more as the seasoned duo returns for the Levi’s x BEAMS Super Wide V2 collection.

Made from heavy 16 oz. custom Orange Tick selvedge denim, the Super Wide V2 Type I Trucker takes inspiration from the classic 1944 Levi’s jean jacket. The jacket features just four shanks, a custom super wide leather back patch – doubling the width of the iconic Two-Horse Pull patch, and a BEAMS exclusive tab.

The Super Wide V2 Type I Trucker pairs beautifully with the Super Wide V2 Jean to create a stunning ensemble. Likewise, the piece is also inspired by a 1940s archive, the 1944 501 Jeans, made from Orange Tick selvedge denim and also features the BEAMS exclusive tab with the custom super wide leather back patch. Both pieces are offered in a lighter vintage wash, and a darker rinse wash exclusive to BEAMS.

The collection is topped off with the white Graphic Tee. Completely blank on the front, the back of the tee features prints of co-branded graphics and a screen printed ‘stitched’ arcuate. 

With an extensive cast of nine models, the collection is set within a traditional Japanese landscape of bamboo forests and cobblestone pavements, juxtaposed against a studio backdrop. The overlapping elements depict a familiar, yet unfamiliar Japan – carefully capturing the fusion of both Levi’s and BEAMS’s essence.

The limited-edition Levi’s® x BEAMS Super Wide V2 collection launches on 9 January 2024 and will be available at Levi’s®ION Orchard, Levi’s® Bugis Junction and on levi.com.sg.
