In late September of 2024, ex-creative director Hedi Slimane unveiled his spring/summer 2025 collection via a short film entitled Un Été Français, or A French Summer. Directed by Hedi himself, the cinematic short was inspired by Françoise Sagan’s 1965 novel La Chamade and was shot within the historic Château de Compiègne in Paris.

Continuing the nostalgic ‘60s essence of the fall/winter 2024 collection, the spring/summer 2025 campaign further explores the archetype of the French It girl—drawing inspiration from iconoclasts such as Jane Birkin and Françoise Hardy. Amidst the opulent grounds of the château, models in chic French bobs and minimalistic headbands navigate the sprawling corridors and lush gardens in babydoll dresses, pleated A-line skirts and impeccably tailored twinsets complete with kitten-heeled slingbacks and strings of layered necklaces.

With Un Été Français marking Hedi’s final collection for Celine, it seems like his exploration of Parisian femininity has also come full circle—a fitting finale to the trailblazing designer’s seven-year tenure at the French label.

The collection is being released in two different parts: Part I marks the transition from winter to spring and spotlights pieces perfect for holiday celebrations and ski vacations. Besides the brand’s classic cropped jackets and ‘60s-inspired pinafores, Celine has also intertwined its refined essence with
commanding animal prints and exotic textures for an audacious take on springtime dressing. Meanwhile, Part II encapsulates the lightness of the season with a playful interplay of mini skirts and flowy silhouettes.
To launch the collection, the brand recently unveiled a new boutique at ION Orchard here in Singapore. Located on the first floor of the shopping destination, the store combines brutalist architecture with naturalistic elements. The store’s interiors are uniquely juxtaposed using contrasting materials—curved glass and marble are paired with warm tones of oak and brass, and antique gold mirrors. Further accentuating the store’s understated elegance is a wall-mounted sculpture by Dutch artist Machteld Rullens.
Apart from being the first Celine store in Singapore to have a beauty display—showcasing the latest Celine Beauté line of lipsticks and haute perfumery—the ION Orchard location also carries its own store exclusives. For men, après-ski pieces run the gamut with highly utilitarian parkas and sporty ski goggles. On the womenswear front, wintertime staples like festive-print sweaters and shearling-trimmed accessories take centre stage.
Beyond ready-to-wear, the boutique also offers exotic-skin renditions of some of its most well-loved bags: the Teen Triomphe, the Classique Triomphe, the Mini Chain Besace Clea and the Small 16 now come in luxurious crocodile. But if we had to pick a favourite among the exclusives, the Small 16 bag in pony calfskin makes the list. Still retaining its classic silhouette, the arm candy stands out for its distinctive cow print—a playful nod to fashion’s unending obsession with Western aesthetics.
