NARS is no stranger to the spotlight, creating beauty products designed to stand out from its contemporaries. This time around, the French beauty brand takes centre stage as it partners with Singapore Ballet for its upcoming production of Coppélia. Rooted in the art of performance and precision, the collaboration merges the beauty Maison's backstage heritage and the professional ballet company's exquisite artistry under stage lights.

“At Singapore Ballet, we value collaborations that enrich the way we bring stories to life,” said Janek Schergen, Artistic Director of Singapore Ballet in a press release. “NARS began backstage, shaping looks for the runway and editorial stage, creating a natural synergy with the world of performance and our own commitment to transformation under the lights."

“At NARS, artistry has always been about bold expression—seen in backstage at fashion shows and editorial shoots,” said Stephanie Tan, Senior Brand Manager at NARS Singapore in a press release. “Working with Singapore Ballet allowed us to bring that spirit to the stage, creating looks that support character and expression under theatrical lighting.”

One of ballet's beloved classics, Coppélia is a tale of romance, humour, and mistaken identity told through original choreography by Arthur St. Léon alongside a dazzling score by Léo Delibes. Staged by Janek, the three-act comic ballet follows Franz, who falls for a mysterious beauty. However, it's discovered that she is a lifelike doll created by Dr. Coppélius and when his fiancée Swanilda steps in, the story unfolds into charming theatrical fun.

As part of the collaboration, NARS make-up artists created two makeup looks inspired by Coppélia and Swanilda. Each look translates the story of the characters with vivid hues that can been seen near and far at the Esplanade Theatre. For Coppélia, the look emphasises her doll-like appearance with vibrant pink eyes, sculpted cheeks, and warm raisin-hued lip. As for Swanilda, the make-up leans in to her warmth, lively confidence, and humanity with a soft shimmer on the lids, a muted mauve mixed with a dusty on the cheeks, and a bold red lip. Both reflect the spirit and charm of the ballet.

In addition, the partnership celebrates the launch of the new Natural Matte Longwear Foundation. With a soft focus medium to high coverage, this long lasting formula blurs imperfections while its Pore Refining Trio—an advanced skincare formula—helps with the appearance of pores and improves skin texture overtime whether you're wearing it to work or to perform.

"For us, this partnership extends the world of the production beyond the stage and invites audiences to engage with it in a fresh and meaningful way," said Janek.

Singapore Ballet's Coppélia will be on from 26 to 29 March 2026 at the Esplanade Theatre. For more information, visit their website.
