There is a version of Jisoo the public knows well: polished, elegant, almost untouchable. Then there’s the version you encounter when it’s just her in a room like this—warmer, more relaxed, with a dry humour that has everyone in stitches.

Meeting her in person at the presidential suite of Grand Hyatt Seoul, you see how quickly that balance plays out. The all-white room is immaculately presented—almost too regal—and yet she has a way of loosening it within minutes with her sparkling smile. Dressed in a beige mini dress with a black bow train, Jisoo radiates positive energy—her luminous skin and glossy lips are, expectedly, on point. She’s here alongside Dior Beauty’s Creative and Image Director, Peter Philips, to talk about the House’s latest lip launch: Dior Addict Glass Lipstick.

We only had 30 minutes with her as she was en route to catch a plane to Cannes to receive the Canneseries “Rising Star Award”—the first time the honour has been bestowed upon an Asian actor, and a marker of her growing focus on acting. Despite the tight schedule, she was relaxed, candidly answering questions, and occasionally teasing Philips as he walked us through the product.

The Dior Addict Glass Lipstick joins the House’s growing lip collection, which currently carries lipsticks, balms, lip oils, glosses, and stains. You might ask, where does this sit in the Dior lip universe? To put it simply: If a lip balm, lipstick, and gloss had a baby, this would be it.

Philips positions it as a hybrid akin to a glossy lipstick. “This is not a gloss,” he insists. “A gloss is a bit more playful—almost like a teenager. This is a combination of pigments and shine which gives this beautiful, glassy, sophisticated, but young and empowered lip.” It’s available in 16 shades (12 in Singapore), and comes in two finishes: A clear, glass-like sheen for everyday wear, and a second finish with pearly shimmer (great for photo calls and candlelit dinners).

At its core is a formula that leans heavily on oils—over 90 per cent, according to the brand—designed to melt on contact. It also focuses on the lip care aspect with a formula that is enriched with hyaluronic acid derivatives for hydration and cranberry oil to support the skin barrier.

According to Philips, it took about 100 iterations until Dior’s technicians succeeded in creating a formula that coats the lips with rich pigment and maximum shine.  A little goes a long way and the effect is immediate: A thin, even layer that delivers what Dior calls a “mirror-effect shine,” without the thickness or stickiness associated with gloss. “After the formula sets, it stays put—it won’t run or migrate. It's a no-brainer product.”

The question is, can this product hold in warmer climates like Singapore? The short answer is yes, but don't go crazy with the application. Philips advises not to apply too much—if you smear on thick layers, it won't survive in any climate.

LIPSTICK ARCHITECTURE

Formula aside, the real challenge was creating the right “architecture” for the product. The Glass Lipstick is sealed in an air-tight bullet where the product is completely enveloped by the container, so no air comes in. “It’s hard [to find a vessel] that can hold a product without losing any of the components.” To use it, Philips says to avoid pushing out too much product as it’s very soft “like butter”.

The packaging reflects a similar shift. The core case is rendered in a reflective silver finish, topped with the house’s signature pearl and a subtle holographic logo that catches the light. It is refillable, with a series of couture cases designed to be swapped in and out—part of Dior’s wider push towards customisation, sustainability, and unifying both fashion and beauty universes. Among the limited-edition options are Pink Bow, a leather case detailed with bows; Denim Oblique, which reworks the house’s logo in blue denim; and Flowery Cannage, embroidered with tulips and doves.

The launch is supported by a campaign featuring Jisoo alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Willow Smith, each fronting a different shade (Jisoo wears 306 Rose Charm). Set within a stylised, candy-coloured world, the visuals lean into the product’s “gourmand” shine—glossy, playful, but still anchored in Dior’s couture codes.

IN CONVERSATION

What was your first impression of Dior Addict Glass Lipstick?

“I’m actually a huge fan of Lip Glow Oil in Rosy Candy, so when I heard there would be a rosy shade in this new range, I was so excited. It matches my skin tone perfectly. It’s the ideal product for a pure, natural look; it enhances your features in a very subtle way. It’s versatile enough for everything from daily wear to glam concerts, always maintaining that effortless, natural glow.”

Do you have a favourite couture case from this collection?

“Definitely the one with the bow detail—it feels fresh and complements Dior’s fashion codes. Having been an ambassador for nearly six years, it’s been exciting to see how the fashion and beauty universes have synergised under the direction of Jonathan Anderson. I love that when you pull the lipstick out of a Miss Dior bag, the details match the design elements of the bag. The moment I saw the pink lipstick case, I knew I had to have one right away!”

Which shade would you choose for your character in your new Netflix drama, Boyfriend on Demand?

“Dior offers such a wide range, from very natural tones to glamorous, sophisticated shades. However, I think 306 Rose Charm is the right choice for this role. My character, Seo Mi-rae, is empathetic and someone audiences are meant to relate to in their everyday lives. She doesn't need a flamboyant or loud shade; she needs something natural that brings a sense of vitality and radiance to her everyday routine.”

Congratulations on receiving the “Rising Star Award” at Canneseries 2026. As the first Asian actor to receive this honour, how do you feel?

“Honestly, I was surprised just to be on the shortlist for such a prestigious award. Finding out that I am the first Asian recipient was an even bigger shock. It’s a huge motivation for me to work even harder in the future. More than anything, I’m happy I can share this with my fans as a token of my hard work and my love for them. I’m very thankful.”

What do you love most about acting, and how do you hope to grow as an actor?

I read many scripts and encounter so many different heroes and heroines; there are some characters I just fall in love with and become immersed in instantly. When I play them, it feels like I’m being given a new life, which in turn inspires my real life as Jisoo. It allows me to broaden my perspective. It feels amazing when people tell me they felt something new or impressive through my performance—that truly gives me strength.”

What is on the horizon for you in 2026?

I’m actually working very hard on a new album with my fellow [Blackpink] members. Because Boyfriend on Demand and my mini-album Amortage were released around the same time, I felt a bit sorry that I didn't get to see my fans as often as I wanted. That’s why I’m focusing on our upcoming album now—it will have many different songs and many more opportunities for us to finally meet with our fans.”
