With a twirl of a powder brush and a swipe of mascara, 2025 has gone by in the blink of an eye. Kicking things off with mocha mousse mania, this year in beauty has been marked by innovation, nostalgia, modern retakes, and a minimalist approach.

We already know what trends we're bringing into the new year, with make-up artists as our muses, PDRN, lymphatic drainage massages, embracing nostalgia with the return of the side-part, the release of the King Kylie collection, bobs and lobs galore, and cat-eye nails. But like with any year, there are things we're leaving behind. Below, we list down the five beauty trends we'll be putting to rest when the clock strikes midnight.

Gourmand Scents

@thenotoriousnef Is anyone else yawning over the state of gourmands at the moment? Like WE’VE HAD ENOUGH… no more boring vanilla fragrances or Bianco Latte/Escapade Gourmande wanna-be’s!!! A really good example of a brand that does gourmands extremely well is @Sorce. One of my absolute favorite scents from them is called The Ghost Wants Birthday Cake. Even though it’s inspired by cake and ice cream, it’s a peach spiced ginger cake with delectable spices. It takes a common scent profile and transforms it into something more unique. They also just came out with five vanilla meringue fragrance variations that are so good! @Nefertiti 🌱 Smells + Skin #gourmandperfume #gourmandfragrance #vanillaperfume #smelllikeasnack #biancolatte #escapadegourmande #caramelperfume #cupcakeperfume ♬ i dont want a cupcake - allina

As a gourmand lover myself, this was a hard pill to swallow, but hear me out. Vanilla creams and buttery caramels smell deliciously divine, but with Singapore's humidity at an all-time high, they melt down into a sticky, sickly sweet, sweaty mess. Case in point: As I entered a cab on a hot Saturday morning wearing a viral body mist that originally smelled of caramel popcorn, the taxi driver turned and said, "Wah, your fragrance is nice—it reminds me of soursop." He meant well, but it was a sign to give the scent profile a rest. However, if you can't part ways with your sweets, opt for lighter notes such as pistachio, strawberry, and lychee that are still sweet, but work with our climate.

Cherry Cola Hair

It seems like a rite of passage for any twenty-something woman to dye her hair a shade of red, and cherry cola dominated the salons in 2024 and well into the start of this year with Dua Lipa as its leader. However, red dye is notorious for fading within the first wash and with the current state of the economy, that's just not going to cut it. For 2026, the girls will be opting for either light-enhancing hues such as Madison Beer's teddy brown, embracing their roots with recession blonde like Margot Robbie, rich espresso-mocha tones spotted on Hailey Bieber, or au natural with the help of hair gloss.

Button Nose Contour

@hannie.skin Button nose contour hacks👃 have you try this ? #nosecontour #contour #makeuphacks #douyin #makeuptutorial #makeup #makeupideas #beauty ♬ gimme more slayyyter remix - DJ

The sculpting magic of contouring the face has been well documented, and carving out a button nose was all the rage in 2025 with stars such as Ariana Grande jumping on the trend. However, it easily comes off muddy and often uneven, unblended, and not in the right shade. Instead, contour to complement—not hide—the shape of your nose.

Animal Print Nails

We all took a trip to the wild side this year with animal print claws. From cheetah and leopard prints to cow spots and zebra stripes, they've adorned our claws on the messiest nights out. However, in 2026, we're looking to preppy plaid, mixed metals, pearlescent finishes, and micro french-tips.

Skincare Overconsumption

Honestly, we have no complaints about the skincare trends and innovations of 2025. However, all of us including myself, fall into the same trap of purchasing products based on trends without making a dent in our 10 to 15 step skincare routines. In 2026, we plan on making the conscious effort to completely use up our products before making our next purchase.
