Taemin and Waterbomb might just be a match made in heaven. Known for his captivating stage presence and sensual choreography, the SHINee singer has long been a fan-favourite at the annual summer festival. And last weekend, the K-pop singer brought his moves to Waterbomb Singapore's second outing at Sentosa.

While other artists on the line-up were quick to jump into more energetic tracks, Taemin opened with a hypnotising performance of "Move", shifting sinuously through the mid-tempo dance track and leaving the crowd wanting more. He then followed up with more high-octane songs like "Sexy In The Air" and "Advice". While Taemin was a natural at commanding the audience, the singer invited SHINee bandmate Minho, who performed earlier in the day, back on stage and treated their fans to the group's 2015 hit "View" to close out the night.
Ahead of his explosive performance, ELLE Singapore caught up with Taemin to discuss his favourite song to perform at Waterbomb, being on the same line-up as Minho and what he has in store for the rest of the year.
Welcome back to Singapore! It’s been nearly a year since you were here for your “Ephemeral Gaze” world tour, how does it feel to be back?
It’s great to see my fans again, and I’ve missed you all. I’m excited to make more new memories in Singapore.
Your performances at Waterbomb over the years are always well-received by fans. What is the best part of performing at the festival? Do you have a favourite song to perform at Waterbomb?
I think fans love the unique vibe of Waterbomb. It’s awesome because I can show them a different side of myself that fits the energy of the festival, and I love getting to have fun with everyone in the audience. I often perform “Move” for the fans at Waterbomb.
Given the emphasis on dance in your performances, how do you ensure that you are in top condition when you perform?
I try to keep my stamina and body healthy through exercise. Lately, I’ve been training my endurance by running.

Both you and Minho are on the line-up at Waterbomb Singapore this year. How does it feel watching each other perform as soloists?
It’s refreshing to see Minho’s genuine artistic identity on stage. You can totally feel his unique style, and he gives off such a strong vibe. Plus, he’s so handsome.
You have explored countless styles of dance, music and visuals, both as a soloist and SHINee member. What inspires you to keep pushing the boundaries of your craft?
I think I’m able to take on these new challenges because of my fans and those who have long supported me. I’m constantly trying to change and improve because I want to show everyone a better version of myself.

Always be humble, be grateful and do your best.
2025 has been a busy year so far, from wrapping up your solo tour and releasing “Poet | Artist” with SHINee. Do you have anything else in store?
I have a Japan tour scheduled later this year, so I’ll be able to keep meeting fans through my performances. I think 2025 will be a good stepping stone for what’s to come next year.
Finally, what is your next creative goal?
I’m aiming for my activities to bring me more joy and happiness, and to be a source of inspiration for others.
