No stranger to the spotlight, Jean Seizure began her career as a child actress at age six in period dramas, such as Price of Peace (1997) and Stepping Out (1999), before branching out into independent films as a teenager. With both parents being veteran Mandopop singers, it came as no surprise that she, too, found her voice in music. Her breakout as a Spotify RADAR artist in 2022 marked a turning point, and since then, the singer-songwriter continues to leave her imprint on the indie music scene with her soulful vocals and introspective lyrics.

Growing up in a musical household, Jean’s transition from screen to studio felt like a natural progression. “As I grew older, I realised that there’s actually a lot of impact in putting things out there that people can relate to,” she shares. Years of refining her sound eventually paid off, culminating in major milestones like being spotlighted on billboards in New York’s Times Square and LA’s Sunset Spectacular, and becoming the first Southeast Asian Spotify GLOW artist.

ON FASHION
Fashion, like music, has been a journey of evolution and self-discovery for Jean. “Over the years, my style went from being really masculine to more androgynous. Sometimes, I throw in some feminine things to create a balance,” she says. I realised that feeling comfortable in my own skin was more important than trying to pull off a particular style.”
ON FUTURE PLANS
This October, Jean will release her debut EP, POV, a six-track compilation of love songs. “The album is about experiencing love from different points of views,” she explains. She’s also involved in creating the cover art for POV and is planning an accompanying exhibition to tie in with the launch of the album. Whether it’s through song, style or strokes of paint, Jean Seizure is quietly but surely shaping a creative legacy that’s entirely her own.
