Burberry has recently unveiled its summer 2025 campaign, "It’s Always Burberry Weather: London in Love". Inspired by much-loved British romantic comedies from the late '90s and early noughties, the campaign—comprising seven short films—celebrates the everyday lives of Londoners and the city's picturesque charm. Set against the backdrop of iconic landmarks such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Blackfriars Bridge, the films beautifully capture the essence of London.

What comes to mind when you think of Burberry?

The Burberry check! It’s more than just a pattern—it’s an instantly recognisable symbol of British heritage. Those trench coats revolutionised fashion; no other piece commands such enduring respect, season after season. The way Burberry seamlessly blends classic style with a modern edge—that’s the hallmark of the brand: Excellence without compromise.

What is your earliest memory of Burberry?

Growing up, Burberry was always woven into the fabric of Great Britain. Over the last decades I
have worked with the brand many times and now I’ve been woven into the legacy which is
something I really cherish.

What drew you to the campaign?

At this point in my career, I choose campaigns that excite me creatively. Burberry's “Its Always
Burberry Weather: London in Love" captured that classic British rom-com spirit—romantic, witty,
and warm. On every shoot, I’m a blank canvas and, even after decades in front of the camera,
I'm still fascinated by how creative teams bring their vision to life.

What was your favourite moment from the campaign shoot?

The shoot was great fun, but the taxi scene was truly unforgettable. As I rushed to escape the rain, I slid into the back seat of a taxi wearing a flowing silk trench—only to find myself sitting next to someone clad in full knight’s armour—the actual Burberry Knight. Then, with impeccable comedic timing, Richard E. Grant turned around and delivered the perfect line: 'Don’t mind him.' The scene was absolutely hilarious!

Which piece do you treasure most in your Burberry collection?

The original trench coat from my first campaign. Every detail was perfection—the cut, the fabric
weight, that unmistakable check lining. I've worn it with everything from evening gowns to jeans,
and it’s timeless.

What are your favourite things to do in summer?

Summer is my time to unwind with family and friends. Whether we're at a quiet villa in the
Maldives or exploring markets in Marrakech, it's about creating memories together. I keep the
wardrobe simple but classic, accessorised with oversized sunglasses and hats. Moments when I
can connect and relax make summers special.

What is on your playlist during the summer?

I think people would be surprised at the range of my summer playlist. They’ll be even more surprised to know that I’m learning to DJ. Both my playlist and DJ sets are high energy. They can go from Burna Boy to Led Zepplin. I wanna make people move with every track!

What is your most cherished summertime memory?

My most cherished summer memories are in Kenya—those stunning Maasai Mara sunsets,
peaceful days in my Malindi sanctuary. There's nothing like being surrounded by Africa's natural
beauty, and the warmth of the people. My time in Africa ground me completely. That's when I
feel most connected—to myself, to the world, to everything.

What is the best or most memorable advice you have received during your career?

Nelson Mandela's words changed everything for me. "Use your voice." Simple yet profound. It taught
me that my platform isn't just about fashion—it's about creating change and lifting others up. And
always with honesty.

What do you think about while walking down the runway?

When I walk, it's all about the present. I focus on the rhythm, feeling the music, and bringing the
designer's vision to life. In that moment, nothing else exists.

What do you miss most about England when you are away?

Besides my family, when I'm away from England I miss those morning walks in the park, the
crisp air, and a proper cup of tea. And that dry British wit—you simply can't find it anywhere else.
