Held at the Grand Palais in Paris, the latest Chanel fall/winter 2024 ready-to-wear show was inspired by the picturesque landscapes of Deauville—the historic location of Gabrielle Chanel's first hat shop. Known for marrying fashion with cinematic narratives, a teaser of the show was also unveiled beforehand. Directed by Inez & Vinoodh, the fall/winter teaser featured model Vivienne Rohner's profile superimposed over the legendary scenes of the Deauville Planches in the 1960s—a poetic tribute to the town's past glory and its significance to Chanel's history.

Spanning 73 looks, this fall/winter collection can be summed up as an "intersection of the '20s and '70s." Fusing classic Chanel house codes from the 1920s with the glamorous rock 'n' roll spirit of the '70s, the collection pays homage to familiar figures of that time, notably silent film star Anouk Aimée and musical visionary David Bowie. A bespoke blend of androgynous and feminine influences, quintessential Chanel mainstays like the iconic tweed suits, wide-brimmed hats and silk scarves were reinvented in vibrant, pastel hues. Meanwhile, bulky sweaters and knits juxtaposed delicate silk blouses and negligees, with the overall looks accentuated by the maison's classic flap bags in refreshed iterations.
