In 2025, Pomellato continues its legacy of activism with the latest Pomellato For Women campaign, launched on International Women’s Day 2025. With powerful voices like Jane Fonda and America Ferrera, Pomellato is using its platform to raise awareness and demand action to end domestic violence globally.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in three women experiences physical and/or sexual violence at least once in her lifetime. This staggering statistic has remained unchanged for over a decade, reinforcing the urgency for action.

For Sabina Belli, CEO of Pomellato, awareness alone is no longer enough. Through Pomellato For Women 2025, Belli urges everyone—regardless of gender—to become active participants in the fight against violence.

“We must unlearn in order to relearn a different way, one that will be second nature to newer generations," says Belli. "Domestic violence is a collective wound, leaving a scar on all of society. Pomellato believes change starts with accepting our responsibility as social sentinels—being vigilant, brave enough to act, and recognising that silence equals complicity. It’s time to move from awareness to action.”

The concept of being a “social sentinel” means to be watchful, compassionate and unafraid to speak out. It means breaking the silence and creating a space where survivors can speak out, should they choose to, and be heard.

Fittingly, the theme of this year’s Pomellato For Women campaign is simply: How? How do we acknowledge the problem? How do we address it? And how do we prevent violence in the first place?

Joining Belli is a group of influential women and men passionate about the fight for change: Actors and activists Jane Fonda, America Ferrera, Mariska Hargitay and Laura Harrier, along with Olympic athlete Mattia Furlani and neuroscientist Gianvito Martino. Below, their powerful words.

Jane Fonda & America Ferrera Join Pomellato’s 2025 Campaign

Jane Fonda: Holding Perpetrators Accountable

A Pomellato For Women supporter since its inception, Jane Fonda brings decades of activism to the campaign. From her work during the Civil Rights Movement to her outspoken feminist advocacy, Fonda’s voice is a powerful force for change.

“Accountability must be non-negotiable,” says Fonda. “Let us work toward a future where domestic violence is no longer a shadow over our homes, our communities, and in our hearts.”

America Ferrera: Amplifying Survivors' Voices

In 2017, America Ferrera was the opening speaker of the Women’s March on Washington, which at the time was the largest single-day protest in American history. Around the same time, she shared her own experience of sexual abuse, as part of the #MeToo movement, saying: “Ladies, let’s end this silence so the next generation of girls won’t have to live with this bullsh*t.”

Now, as part of Pomellato For Women 2025, Ferrera emphasises the need to dismantle the culture of silence. “We must amplify the voices of survivors and honour their truth, actively dismantling harmful habits and ensuring perpetrators face real consequences,” says Ferrera. “Real change only happens through unwavering responsibility and strong legal protections—from our homes to our workplaces.”

Mariska Hargitay, Laura Harrier & Male Allies Join Pomellato For Women

Mariska Hargitay: Listening to Survivors

When Mariska Hargitay began playing Olivia Benson in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 1999, her eyes were opened to the weight of pain, shame and fear carried by survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. She began to work with and for those survivors, and in 2004 founded the Joyful Heart Foundation, whose mission is to change societal responses, support healing and end violence

“For survivors, speaking up is reliving the trauma,” says Hargitay. “We listen to survivors. We believe them, and we hold perpetrators accountable.”

Laura Harrier: Enforcing Justice

The star of Netflix’s Hollywood and Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman was one of the original signatories to the Time’s Up movement. In a 2018 interview with ELLE US, she said that activism comes naturally to her, explaining: “I’m an activist because I’m a human being and I’m a Black woman in America and there’s a lot of things that go on around me and I can’t keep my mouth shut about it.”

Speaking in the Pomellato For Women video, she underlines that “justice must be clear, visible and enforced.”

Mattia Furlani & Gianvito Martino: Men as Allies

Olympic athlete Mattia Furlani and professor of experimental biology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan Gianvito Martino are the two men taking part in this year’s Pomellato For Women campaign. Together, they are appealing to men around the world to join the cause, saying: “Change demands that men also step forward as active allies, joining women in solidarity to shape a world where fear has no place in any woman’s story.”

As part of the initiative, Pomellato has also renewed its support for CADMI (the Safe House for Mistreated Women), Milan’s first-ever women’s shelter, and FreeFrom, a Los Angeles-based partner to the Kering Foundation, which provides long-term financial stability to domestic abuse survivors.
