Miami’s vibrant landscape may have inspired the latest colourways for RIMOWA’s Essential collection, but it was Seoul that the German luggage brand chose to hold its launch party for regional press and guests. And why not? A city pulsating with fashion-forward energy, it is home to some of the world’s biggest music and movie stars. And there was certainly no shortage of celebrities at this particular event, which ELLE Singapore attended.
Where the stars went, the fans followed. Hundreds of chanting teenage girls—and their mothers—came in droves, some queuing overnight, braving the elements to catch a glimpse of their idols on the red carpet of J-Studio, located in the hipster, urban district of Seongsu, nicknamed the “Brooklyn of Seoul”. Inside the warehouse, guests were offered a preview of the limited-edition Mint & Papaya colourways inspired by the pastel-hued architecture of Miami’s famous Art Deco District and the city’s breathtaking beachside sunsets.
