Milan-born designer Simone Bellotti has been appointed Creative Director of Jil Sander. After months of rumours and constant changes at top luxury houses, the news was confirmed this morning in a press release from OTB Group.
Bellotti joins the brand from Bally, where he was Creative Director for just under two years. He was appointed to the position in May 2023, having previously worked in the Gucci design studio for 16 years. Throughout his career, he has also held positions at the likes of Gianfranco Ferré, Dolce&Gabbana, and Bottega Veneta.
"I am incredibly honoured to join Jil Sander, a storied house that created a new aesthetic with its unique approach and strong identity, and that has always had such a significant influence on the design community," said Bellotti in a statement.
OTB Group's chairman, Renzo Rosso, also shared a statement about Bellotti's appointment: 'Simone embarks on this journey with extensive experience and a distinct talent. Over the time spent together we shared the strategic vision and mission for Jil Sander, the values of innovation and sophistication that make it an iconic and unique brand.'
The news comes just two weeks after husband-and-wife duo Lucie and Luke Meier stepped down from their positions as joint Creative Directors of Jil Sander, where they had been at the helm since 2017. Their fall/winter 2025 Milan Fashion Week show was their last for the house. Bellotti's appointment takes place "with immediate effect".
