What is a lesser-known K-celebrity hair secret that you swear by?

Many people focus solely on hair treatments, but scalp care is the key to healthy hair. A well-nourished scalp promotes stronger, shinier hair growth. That’s why K-celebrities incorporate daily scalp massages or use scalp tonics to boost blood circulation. Additionally, when using hair oil, less is more—applying too much can make the hair look heavy. Instead, take just a drop, warm it between your palms, and lightly apply it to the ends for a natural, weightless shine.

K-pop idols frequently change their hair colour throughout the year. How do they maintain its health despite frequent colouring?

The most important aspect is the care before and after dyeing. Before, I'll assess the hair’s condition and use a protein treatment to strengthen it. Afterwards, I apply a protein treatment at least once a week, along with thorough scalp care to maintain the hair’s health.

Which haircuts and colours are set to dominate this spring?

This spring, medium-length layered hair and flip cuts with a natural, lightweight feel are expected to remain popular as they're easy to maintain, adaptable to various face shapes, and exude an effortlessly chic vibe. As for colours, soft and elegant shades will take the spotlight. Expect warm yet sophisticated hues like purple basil, mocha mousse, and teddy bear brunette to trend this season.

When it comes to styling, what are the hottest hairstyles in South Korea right now?

Natural, easy-to-style bob cuts with soft waves are currently popular in Korea. Additionally, layered cuts that emphasize volume with a refined, light feel continue to be in high demand.

I believe Singapore’s hair trends are influenced by both K-beauty and Western styles. Due to the hot and humid weather, lightweight and easy-to-maintain hairstyles are especially popular. Meanwhile, in Seoul, the climate and environment allow for a wider variety of hair styling options and products, with celebrity trends playing a significant role in shaping public preferences.

How can one achieve salon-quality, silky smooth locks in Singapore’s hot and humid climate?

It’s important to hydrate the hair without weighing it down. After towel-drying, apply a scalp tonic and gently massage it in. Drying with cool air instead of hot air helps reduce scalp heat. Using a lightweight leave-in treatment and a small amount of hair oil can also help prevent frizz caused by humidity.

What is the most valuable piece of advice you give clients once they leave the salon?

Find the right products for their hair type. If your hair is damaged, opt for a protein-replenishing shampoo. For an oily scalp, choose a scalp shampoo that effectively removes impurities. After using the right products for your hair’s condition, make sure to dry your hair using the appropriate technique for the best results

What are some of your hair essentials?

I always carry hair oil, a cushion brush, and a setting spray. They help smooth the hair and add a natural shine to the style. In terms of styling tools, I mainly use high-quality curling irons with adjustable temperatures.

What should people seek for inspiration before their next salon appointment?

While trends are important, choosing a style that aligns with your lifestyle is key. It's great to get inspiration from social media, but make sure to consider your face shape, hair type, and daily styling habits. Looking for someone with a similar hair texture can give you a more realistic idea of how a style will look on you. And, of course, consulting with a professional stylist is always the best way to find a personalized look that suits you.
