Easter falls on 20 April this year, which means it's officially open season on chocolate feasting. And not just any chocolate. Grown-up, gift-worthy, might-need-to-photograph-it-before-you-eat-it chocolate. Once a religious celebration of resurrection (and still is, of course), Easter has, over the years, quietly transformed into a day for soft pastels, long lunches, and gifting edible objets d’art. And somewhere between the symbolism of the egg and the sweetness of spring, chocolate became the unofficial mascot of the holiday. Whether you're filling a loved one’s basket or curating your own (we support this), these are the chocolate treasures worth unwrapping this season.

Araya’s seasonal chocolate box ($88++) is like a sommelier’s flight but for chocolate made with cacao beans sourced from locations like South America, Mexico, and the Amazon. Curated with the same discernment one might expect from a fine wine tasting, the 13-piece selection includes bonbons, chocolate tablets, pâte de fruits, and concadas. Inspired by the Venezuelan chocolatier’s famed Carrito de Dulces (Sweet Cart), the collection highlights flavours rooted in Latin American heritage: Cola de Mono (a nod to the spiced Chilean holiday drink), Red Fruit, White Chocolate with Roasted Corn, Passionfruit, and Café y Leche.

There are Easter eggs, and then there’s Laurent Bernard’s Gourmet Chocolate Easter Egg ($106.82), a handmade shell-cracking event in itself. Choose dark or milk chocolate, then smash it open to reveal a trove of praline eggs, chocolate fish, and other sweet surprises. But the real scene-stealer is Benedicte ($168.95), a chocolate hen perched in an elegant basket and filled to the brim with artisanal Easter chocolates. It's made entirely from 70 per cent dark or milk chocolate, and makes the case for centrepieces that you can eat.

LOUIS VUITTON

Of course, Louis Vuitton made a chocolate handbag. And of course, it’s stunning. Dreamed up by pastry genius Maxime Frédéric, the Chocolate Egg Bag reimagines Nicolas Ghesquière’s spring/summer 2019 creation as a sculptural chocolate clutch complete with edible zipper pulls. The shell is 70 per cent dark chocolate, the details are 40 per cent milk chocolate. Inside? A decadent hazelnut gianduja bar. It’s craftsmanship meets cocoa.
Available through Louis Vuitton's Click & Collect service and in stores.
ORIGIN + BLOOM

Origin + Bloom’s Greek-inspired chocolate sculptures are here to raise your Easter table to museum exhibit status. The Santorini Chocolate Centrepiece ($138) is all white curves, blue accents, and chocolate bunnies standing guard. For smaller indulgences, try the Santorini Blue Dome ($12) with olive oil Bavaroise and lemon curd, or the Minoan Vase ($12) , which combines strawberry compote and vanilla mousse with, wait for it, balsamic vinegar. Just trust.
Origin + Bloom is at Marina Bay Sands Lobby, Hotel Tower 3, Tel: 6688 8588. For online orders, visit their e-shop.
PAUL

If you’re after something slightly less high fashion but still ridiculously good, PAUL’s dark chocolate tartlets are the answer. The Hazelnut Dark Chocolate ($8.60) one is classic and crunchy, the Sea Salt version ($8.60) brings oat milk into the mix, and the Midnight Egg tartlet ($9) — crowned with chocolate eggs — is basically Easter in pastry form.

VENCHI

Venchi’s Galaxy Egg ($108) is a masterclass in Easter extravagance. Housed in a reusable tin that’s most definitely a keepsake, this confection hides a trove of milk cream chocolate eggs. Each bite combines the sweetness of Venchi’s signature milk chocolate with the nutty allure of Piedmont hazelnuts and a silky milk cream centre. Think of it as spring’s most stylish surprise that's wrapped, ready, and far too chic to crack open without an audience.
