Dior is going Hollywood. It always has—take for example Rose Byrne wearing the brand’s gown to the 2026 Oscars or Dior himself being nominated in 1955 for Costume Design. But creative director Jonathan Anderson’s first cruise show, held on 13 May 2026 outside the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, reinforced the house’s silver screen connection, with Peter Philips, the creative and image director for Christian Dior makeup, taking direct beauty inspiration directly from the scene.
“Old-school Hollywood,” Philips said of the setting. “There’s a Twin Peaks feeling to me, and David Lynch with a bit of [Alfred] Hitchcock.” For the show, Philips put a twist on the most classic Hollywood makeup in the book: Winged eyeliner. “We did crystal eyeliners because it’s the magical city of screen goddesses.” A select few models had this look, which he achieved by individually gluing iridescent, slightly peach-toned jewels across their top lash line. The colour was chosen because the jewels were glowy and skin-toned, but still clear.

The show was as much a display of beautiful clothing (like flowy gowns in frothy sherbet oranges and fluffy cotton candy pinks, feathery headpieces that spelled words like “Dior” and “buzz,” and even ripped jeans with flossy silver chains) as it was a piece of performance art. Actors used vintage cars as props—a woman touched up her makeup in the mirror of a black Cadillac, and a man lounged against a pink convertible holding a yellowed newspaper.
In the show notes, Anderson spoke to the way he paid homage to the house in the collection. “Christian Dior always put a red dress partway through his collections—simply to wake people up—a device I thought I’d experiment with.” The crystal eyeliner felt like Philips’s own red dress moment. The jewel-encrusted eyes popped up sporadically through the show, serving as a jolt of caffeine to keep the audience on their toes.

The rest of the models had glowy, no-makeup makeup, made possible by Philips incorporating the Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation sparsely to let the skin’s natural texture shine through. Then, he warmed up the complexion with the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush Stick in Pink Lilac for lighter skin tones and Berry for darker ones.
Hairstylist Guido Palau nodded to West Coast ease with undone, beachy waves. Some models also sported nail art by Ama Quashie in John Galliano’s iconic newspaper print, which also popped up in some of the collection’s handbags. The whole setup felt like something out of a movie.
