Here’s the thing: Whether you’re happily coupled, in a situationship, or just here for the food, Valentine's and Galentine’s Day are perfect excuses to treat yourself (and your favourite people) to a fantastic meal.

If you're after a romantic fine-dining experience, there’s Restaurant Fiz, where modern Malay flavours are served in an elegant, intimate setting, or Seroja, a Michelin-starred gem that takes you on a refined journey through the Malay Archipelago. Prefer something cosier and more laid-back? Harummanis gives nostalgic Malay dishes a modern upgrade in a warm, inviting space, while The Halia sets the mood with alfresco dining in the lush surroundings of the Botanic Gardens.

So whether it’s a swoon-worthy date night, a Galentine’s feast with your best friends, or a self-love treat (because why not?), these halal and halal-friendly restaurants promise more than just great food—they serve up a night to remember.

And for those still figuring out where to go, we’ve rounded up the best spots to wine (minus the alcohol) and dine. All you have to do is book the table.

RESTAURANT FIZ

Modern Malay Fine Dining

If your love language is ‘impeccable food and intimate ambience’, Restaurant Fiz is the one. Run by Chef Hafizzul Hashim, this Michelin Green Star-awarded fine dining spot takes you on a journey through Southeast Asian flavours. Although Muslim-owned, serving no pork or lard, Fiz is not Halal-certified as it serves alcohol.

The menu features beautifully plated dishes honouring regional heritage, like the Blue Swimmer and Spanner Crab Gulai ($58), served with Gaeng Gati, which is a rich Thai coconut curry, and Pickled Belimbing Buloh, a tangy, starfruit-like ingredient commonly used in Malay and Indonesian cuisine for its sour kick. The Angus Beef Oxtail Asam Pedas ($56), slow-braised in a spicy, sour gravy with torch ginger flower, is another standout, served with a striking teepee of okra. You can choose between an indulgent multi-course set menu (from $88 for the 4-course Sajian Warisan lunch to $288 for dinner) or opt for à la carte selections, allowing for a more flexible dining experience. Every dish tells a story, setting the stage for deep conversations over dinner.

But fair warning: This isn't a "grab a quick bite" kind of place. Dining here is a slow, immersive experience that unfolds over a few hours. But if you're celebrating love (or self-love), why rush, right?

Restaurant Fiz is located 21 Tanjong Pagar Road, 01-01/02. For more information or to make reservations, visit https://www.restaurantfiz.sg/

HARUMMANIS

Modern Malay with a Twist

Ever wished you could have a taste of your grandmother’s cooking but with a fancy, Instagrammable upgrade? That’s Harummanis. This Kampong Glam gem by Chef Akmal Anuar takes nostalgic Malay flavours and refines them into something fresh and exciting. It is located a stone’s throw away from the Istana Kampong Glam on Sultan Gate.

The menu boasts dishes like Ketoprak ($20), an Indonesian salad with Japanese sesame sauce, and Tajima Wagyu 250g ($55). The flavours are rich, the plating is stunning, and the restaurant itself is warm and inviting—perfect for a cosy Valentine’s dinner or a lively Galentine’s gathering where the food is just as fabulous as the company.

You can take a post-dinner stroll past the Sultan Mosque and shophouses, letting the night’s magic linger a little longer.

Harummanis is located at 37 Sultan Gate. For more information or to make reservations, visit https://www.harummanissg.com/

THE HALIA

European-Asian Fusion in a Lush Setting

If you’re the kind of person who swoons over candlelit dinners surrounded by greenery (i.e. Instagram grid goals), then The Halia is your go-to. Nestled within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, this restaurant is the spot for a romantic alfresco dining experience.

The Halia (which means "ginger" in Malay) blends European cuisine with Asian flavors. Think Charred Octopus ($32), Halia Chili Crab Spaghettini ($26), and refreshing ginger-infused drinks. While the à la carte menu is tempting, we highly recommend going for the set menu, which starts from $55 for a 2-course meal. Available for lunch and dinner, it offers a well-balanced selection of starters, mains, and desserts that highlight Halia’s signature fusion of European techniques with Southeast Asian flavors.

Start with the creamy Italian Burrata or the Charred Octopus drizzled with a fragrant ginger flower hot sauce. For mains, the Grilled Barramundi with wild rice and butter chicken gravy is a crowd favorite, while the Angus Striploin offers something a little more indulgent. End on a sweet note with the Chocolate Praline Brownie or the PB&J-inspired Banana Cake with peanut butter cream and raspberry jelly. Because, really. Why pick just one dish when you can have a full-on curated experience?

And if you’re all about a "soft launch" for your relationship, The Halia’s beautiful scenery makes for the perfect Instagram-worthy date pics.

The Halia is at 1 Cluny Rd, Ginger Garden Singapore Botanic Gardens. For more information or to make reservations, visit https://www.thehalia.com/

OUD RESTAURANT

Contemporary Halal Dining

Tucked away on Kandahar Street, Oud Restaurant offers a modern twist on halal dining, blending traditional flavours with contemporary techniques. Though cosy, the ambiance is inviting, and with its open kitchen concept, you can watch the chefs in action as they grill, sear, and plate each dish with precision.

For a truly indulgent experience, we recommend the Fire-Grill Beef Shortplate ($88), a perfectly grilled premium cut served with a fragrant beef jus infused with curry leaves. Alternatively, the restaurant’s Squid Ink Seafood Paella ($48)—featuring smoky, grilled rice topped with fire-roasted prawns and octopus—is a must-try.

Complete your meal with a selection of non-alcoholic wines and cocktails, so you can toast to love (or great food) in style.

Oud Restaurant is at 48 Kandahar Street. For more information or to make reservations, visit https://www.oudrestaurant.sg/

ESPOIR

Halal Modern European Dining

Tucked along Amoy Street, Espoir brings a refined take on modern European cuisine while being fully halal-certified. The restaurant’s sleek interior strikes a balance between sophistication and warmth, setting the scene for a memorable dining experience.

Espoir’s menu features European dishes elevated with bold flavours. A must-try is the Beef Tenderloin Capellini ($38), where tender Angus beef meets delicate capellini pasta, wild mushrooms, and a fragrant green curry sauce. It is unexpected but delicious. For a meat-free option, the Miso Cauliflower ($30) is a standout, with pan-roasted cauliflower complemented by corn hummus, coriander coulis, and a drizzle of saffron chilli oil for an extra kick.

And because no celebration is complete without something sweet, Espoir’s desserts are made for sharing. The Sticky Date Pudding ($16), drenched in orange caramel sauce and served with vanilla gelato, is pure comfort, while the Espoir Churros ($12)—offered in both classic and pandan flavours—come with a choice of toffee or chocolate coffee sauce.
